Re: Derrick Williams Trade
Yep. I still feel the same as I did when I first read about the trade. Couldn't believe we got Mbah a Moute for D-Will in a positive sense. Thought SAC overpaid honestly. I believe they also have the worse contract of the two. I commended Flip on here for the trade and I'm still on that side of the fence.
Is it any surprise that after the trade, our bench play has been better? What do we attribute that to? Coincidence or production where we weren't getting any? Have to like what Luc brings, even if we might be one bench piece away.

Re: Derrick Williams Trade
I think it was a solid trade that Flip made, but by no means do I think we fleeced anyone. Luc is a terrific one on one defender, but lacks the type of offensive punch and efficiency we could really use off the bench right now. Derrick could have filled that hole, but he just never got his outside shot going. Unfortunately for him, he's floundering in Sacramento now too. He's not a bad player; he's just sort of blah. He doesn't do anything to really impact the game. It's another in a long line of draft failures by this franchise. Meanwhile, franchises like Oklahoma City and San Antonio are able to find far more effective players year after year with much lower draft positions.

Re: Derrick Williams Trade
The issue is we shouldn't have extend DWill since he had more value as an expiring then as a prospect. It was just stupid committing $6M to him for next year and then turning around and having to dump him.

Re: Derrick Williams Trade
Yes LST, D-Will is pretty quickly losing his playing time while our bench has played much more effectively since the trade.
A very telling aspect of the recent trade is that over the past 5 games Luc has outscored D-Will and scored more efficiently. When Luc is scoring better than D-Will, that removes any argument against the trade.
I love that Luc is actually GOOD at things. With him in the game, we know that we will get good, high-energy defense, and some good rebounding.

I don't like that Luc's contract is a year longer. He is not a 4.5M a year player.

Everyone on this board knows what you get with D-Will. So, if you are trying to make a specific point by pointing out D-Will's stats, we encourage you to make your specific point.
providing a link to their career stats and team stats, while very easy to find, leaves readers questionable why you are providing the links.
And since you provided those links.....look at them.....you'll see that Luc has added more to the Wolves this year than D-Will did.
So, if your point is that the Wolves are a better team after the D-Will/Luc trade (here i am merely speculating as to your point) .......i think that we all already agree with you.

So the stats as a whole seem to show that Williams has been good and MBAM has been awful. But if you take the statistically insignificant subset of the last 5 games you can skew the stats to say that MBAM has been better than Dwill. Interesting... I don't really think that 5 or even 13 games should be used to statistically evaluate someone's merits, but the greater of the subset of the stats do show that William's production is far superior. Time will tell though. I think it is fine to prefer MBAM over Dwill based on the eye test or gut emotions because of Dwill underperforming as a #2 pick, but thanks sjm for pointing out that there is no statistical merit for evaluating MBAM as a superior contributor to DWill statistically since the trade.

I wasn't making this point. I was saying Dwill is giving more to his current team than MBAM is to the Wolves. I would suspect that MBAM would give more to us then DWill did this year as Adelman has given him more opportunity than what he gave Dwill in the 8 of 11 games he played him.
