I don't know that Winfield would have made much of a difference this year, but I loved him as a player and was sad to see him go from a character/leadership perspective. Every great defense has at least one elite corner or defensive back. I think Smith coupled with a legit shutdown corner can begin to retools our D to be elite. We haven't been able to draft that guy, so like we did with Winfield we need to target someone in free agency.
