How good has Pek been???

Post by Mstermisty [enjin:6864008] »

Seriously, the guy got off to a slow start, but after that, and especially lately, he's been dominant. He made a very good offensive post player in Big Al look terrible tonight, and offensively he owned him. On one play he even stole the ball on the perimeter and then ran the court and finished on the fast break!

It's a shame the Wolves have blown so many close games, because if they had three or four more wins I think Pek is in the all-star game. Even as it stands now he is making a strong case.

This guy is EARNING his money. Every penny.

No doubt about it. I think he'll get in the All-Star game though. Coaches have seen what this guy does. How do you ignore 18 and 9 or whatever it is he's averaging after tonight. He's a force. 12M per year is a bargain for a top-5 center in the game.

I'm loving Pek this year. He is the best Center this franchise has ever had.

Offensively he is only behind Demarcus Cousins as best center in the league.

If you saw the game tonight you also noticed he's really not bad defensively either.

He shut down Al tonight. Always said Pek's a really good man defender but struggles sometimes with help defense. I was surprised how fast he was running the floor though lol.

If ever "Thank you Captain Obvious!" was more appropriate than this I've not seen it!

Pekovic has scored at least 16 points in 20 of his past 21 games. He's hit 9+ rebounds in 17 of them.

As a secondary scoring option, he's been extremely reliable.

Can he do the same against a still very good (although older) Spurs team? Can the wolves run them into the ground?

here is some good article about PEK

http://www.sbnation.com/2013/10/8/4767934/nikola-pekovic-minnesota-timberwolves-nba-2013

as i said in other threads, PEKs defensive numbers are surprisingly close to numbers of defensive specialists, he is allowing higher FG% but denying deep positions and there for there are not many FGs attempted against him

PEKs flaw is very little help defense in team where PF is playing soft most of times in defense and wings and guards are getting burned off-dribble on regular basis and are gambling for steals like if they would have Hibbert guarding the paint
