Huge Hypothetical
If the Lakers are lucky enough to win the lottery would you trade them Love for multiple unprotected first round picks? The way I see it is this team has played how they were put together by Flip and appear to be capped at a bottom 4 seed in the West pending a miracle that Ricky learns to shoot this offseason. The other consideration with this trade is that the Lakers could really only afford Love and Kobe after Love would re-sign there, so it would appear to me at least that they would have a worse cast around Love then here and we know he doesn't have the ability to carry bad teams to the playoffs. We would get a number 1 pick and another lottery pick out of them because they would have at least two good picks available to be sent to us while Kobe is still on the downturn of his career. We could get Parker and get the elite wing scorer everyone seems to need nowadays to win. Then we could either dump the exception for space or try to absorb KG's contract for 1 more year from the Nets and go into next year with a starting lineup of Ricky/Martin/Parker/KG/Pek. KG can retire a T Wolf and we would have our new future core duo of Ricky and Parker with Pek being a solid player in his prime. It would reset our clock, but not for nearly as long as we would be getting a future franchise player for a current one. The beauty about this trade is we won't even know if it is possible until this offseason, so we could see how we finish this year out and then we could determine what the best option is to move forward with Love pending the results of the end of this year. I would have said sign and trade Pau and the number 1 pick, but the draft is before anything can be done with contracts. Maybe we could absorb a newly signed Pau. I don't know how sign and trades work with exceptions. Pau fits with Ricky and Pek, he just can't quite extend it all the way to the 3 line like Love.

Intriguing, Khans, but I say no. As down as I am about Love's mouth, he is an elite NBA all star and almost impossible to replace in our lineup. The only way I consider this deal is if it seems likely by draft day that Love wants out of Target Center, or if he becomes a locker room cancer. Beyond that, you don't trade a 25-15 guy for the crap shoot of draft picks. After all, at this time last year, Anthony Bennett looked every bit as good as Jabari does now.

Agreed throughout your whole response... Except the Anthony Bennett--Jabari Parker part. Lol Jabari's been far and away the better prospect. Looks and plays the part of an NBA SF whereas Bennett always looked like a tweener. I think it's highly unlikely that Jabari flops and doesn't become an NBA All-Star. With that said, I'd need more than just Jabari and another pick for Love. Young and elite production is still better than young potential and more potential. I'd need an up and comer, Jabari and then that next pick.
