Would you trade kevin martin for evan turner? Ive been thinking about this for a while and been going back and forth with it. Would like to know how others think about this trade.
Turner would be an expiring and it will come down to whether you will be willing to resign turner for 10m year after this..
I like turner, hes younger, better defender and athlete than martin. He will also give us a wing player who can drive to the basket and create his own shot. He is a good ball handler and playmaker for a wing as well. Good mid range game.
Martin @ 7m/yr is good contract for a rebuilding team as a vet wing who can start. Martin wont make the sixers win anymore games than turner would so it wont impact their win loss record much. He will also be a good fit to mcw at the back court for them and be a vet presence for their rebuilding team.
The cons here is that martin is one of our better 3pt shooter. But he plays soft, doesnt do anything else well aside from scoring and we are one of the worst mid range shooting team in the league. Turner would also fit better with bud and bazz at the wings as he can defend the better wing players in the league.
Martin+mbah a moute for turner+lavoy allen
allen would be an expiring and would save us some $ next season in resigning turner. Would also give us an alternative to dante in backing up love and would make dante and his expiring a trade bait come the deadline..

Re: Martin for turner?
I know Martin has been off and on this season, but his shooting (when on) is so valuable to a team that sports SO MANY non-shooters. Even being a bit inconsistent, he is shooting 40% on 3's. This would again make Love the only 3 point threat on the Wolves. Not sure you can win with one long range shooter.
Also, Turner is simply not worth $10M, nor do I think he gets that type of money next year. Regardless, he will probably get paid more than he is worth.
In the end, the answer is no for me. I would certainly entertain trading Martin, but we need a different piece than Turner back.

Re: Martin for turner?
Hicks, you have good points. Yeah, turner probably doesnt warrant 10m/yr but that makes him more attainable for us and right on the level that martin is in right now.. He gives us something we dont have, creator and mid range game and better d and rebounding but we will loose our best 3pt threat. That makes it tricky for us.
Ive been thinking about other targets as well with martin as bait such as hayward of the jazz or gallinari(currently injured i know) of denver. Hayward would be hard to retain in my view as boston or phoenix are rumored to be making a run at him and he would cost a lot more but would be better than turner. Gallo might not play this season but he is better than martin and could be an option in the offseason.
