And that tells you a lot about Ricky...he's more comfortable playing it right down the middle and not ruffling feathers. The only guy with any guts on this team is JJ, and Abe is right, JJ is going to lose to Kevin every time because Kevin has the numbers.
The more I think about it, the angrier I get at Adelman. I have always had a lot of respect for him, but if a clubhouse is really "teetering on the brink", that's on the coach. I just don't think Adelman has it in him to make this team better.
So, JJ gets traded to a second round pick, the chemistry continues to circle the drain, and the team staggers to another season with no playoffs. Granted I'm a little crabby stuck in Charles deGaulle for nine hours because fucking Delta overbooked my flight (oh my are they going to pay for this one!), but my patience is running thin for these post game comments.
what do you mean that JJ is the only one with "guts"? are you just spouting off cliches?
JJ needed to be traded before tonights game. His heroic mindset has been killing the team in 4th quarters. I was very relieved when Rick brought Ricky in earlier than usual and Jose Juan should not be surprised. Rick needed to put his best guys out there and he did. Unfortunately Ricky had a very costly turnover but the team has to live with that. Hopefully this will get JJ out sooner because this team needs help

I don't think I'm spouting off cliches, Alex...I don't think that anyone would argue that we have a soft team. In my opinion, Love and Berea are the lonely fiery players on the team. Brewer and Pek play hard, but they are teddy bears, and Martin is just soft all around. And Adelman is detached. The lack of gutsy players creates a leadership vacuum that Love has tried to fill, and he has done a piss-poor job of it.
So you want a gutsy, fiery player but who isn't intense to this teammates. seems like your going in two different directions here. I guess pek is a "teddy bear" (another cliche) despite the fact he had an awesome second half espically on the defensive end. The "teddy bear" didn't let anyone back him down and pushed his defender out to the ft line on occasions. Also had some big blocks. But he doesn't yell and scream so you bash him for that, but if he was yelling and screaming after the game he would just be called a bad leader.

I'm not bashing Pek, alex. I think he's a great attribute on this team. And I didn't see the game, but I'm not surprised that he played some tough D tonight. when I say he is a teddy bear, I mean it's not in his nature to set a teammate straight, no matter how much damage he is doing.
I don't mind Love calling out his teammates if he really has some concerns. I think that's fine. I just think it's chickenshit to do it through the media rather than face to face.
You know that this stuff happens on other teams too, and we never hear about it. The difference is that those teams win.
I would fire Adelman. I know it's rash. But there's only one common theme in these close game losses and it's coaching. Sure, you can point out a missed shot or mistake by player X in each game, but in my mind, better coaching and in-game strategy should have won more of theses games.
I'm thinking long term too. I feel like Adelman is too old and doesn't want to manage personalities or light a fire under this team. Just making a small improvement in the overall record probably feels like success to him.

So you want Pek to get in Love's face about his comments but love can't in other teammates faces? What good would Pek getting in loves face solve? How do we know Love also didn't go to JJ and Dante as well?

To be fair, we don't know what is happening behind the scenes. Would your attitude change if Love calmly wrote Barea a note about this stuff. Or, took him out for a coffee to discuss them.

Alex, re-read my post. I said it's perfectly fine to get in a teammates face if you're pissed off about him. Just be a man and do it face to face. Using the media is cowardly and childish.

Might not happen that way. But we don't know.
No you're right, Abe, and I made the same comment in another thread. Emotions run high in a pro locker room, and a lot of shit happens that we don't know about. My beef with Love is that he thinks it's our business to know what he thinks about his teammates. I don't want to know. I just want him to go 30-15-4 and shut the fuck up.
