This year's 1st round pick

Post by kms789 [enjin:6694798] »

Just so we're clear, am I correct in saying that the pick this year goes to the Suns, but is Top-13 protected?

Dammit Kahn. The worst part is, it is actually fairly likely we end up with the 14th pick, therefore missing the playoffs and losing the pick. What kind of GM would set up top-13 protection?

That is correct. I believe it had full lottery protection last season, and it slips a spot this year and next before changing to two seconds in 2016.

Yes, Kahn wasn't the brightest bulb. The worst is that Kahn had to give up a first rounder to entice the Suns into taking Kahn's 2010 1st round pick, Wes Johnson. Kahn had to unload Wes Johnson's salary because Kahn had already committed $5 million to Brandon Roy and needed to clear cap space to make an offer to Batum.
