I don't know how legit this is but it is interesting to think about. We would be giving up some offense but Asik would be a huge upgrade defensively.

It's not a ridiculous rumor. But one I think most here would turn down.

But what if it wasn't just Pekovic for Asik. What if the Wolves unloaded another player (let's say M'boute for the sake of arguing) and got more scoring in return too?

Right now, the team is all- or -nothing. It makes them ridiculous to try to figure out. They are setting records for free throws... but are being lapped by the field in blocked shots. They score a ton of points... but can't shoot.

They have defensive guys who can't play offense. And offensive guys who can't play defense. I guess Asik wouldn't really help that one though...

Well, I don't mind trading Pek for Asik, but there simply needs to be more in it for the Wolves. Pek for Asik straight up is simply not a fair deal given their historical performance. Pek is clearly the better player, and we need an additional piece.

We'd have to get something pretty damn good in return as well as Asik. Pek has far more value than Asik as of right now and he continues to progress.

One step forward, one step backwards. Asik doesn't give us nearly the offensive presence that Pek does. And as most of you have seen, Pek has brought his game up a notch over the past month or so. Him and Love are becoming a major matchup nightmare for opponents. This is neutral at best. Plus why bother when we have Turiaf coming back soon and Dieng being groomed for a shot blocking role off the bench over the longer term? That way we can keep Pek's offense while having a complimentary defensive presence off the bench.

It would need to be a 3 team trade for this to happen as houston wont play pek and dwight together if asik+dwight didnt work for them.

I agree that we need something more than asik to make the deal happen. If its straight up then i prefer to keep pek. Rockets are looking for draft picks in an asik trade.

How about boston as the third team? they have brooklyns picks and an expiring(humpries) they need a center as they are playing brandon bass at center.

Or philly as they have cap space and new orleans pick? A pek+noel offense+defense big duo will be great for the sixers. If we could somehow land thadeus young or jeff green along with asik then that would be great. I wont mind parting with brewer or mbah a moute if we could land young or green.
