Jason, I bumped the thread back up the other day after Pek had 30/10-ish numbers. Wanted to respond to sjm who isn't in favor of Pekovic on this team and his contract. This thread had been dead for a while before that.

My apologies. There was a time when he wasn't my favorite Wolf either. But Sikma has done wonders with him, and at the moment, I like him even at that contract.

No worries. Hard to dislike him right now when he's shoving 20-30 point games down the opponent's throat. Unless you're sjm and his P&R defense is so horrible that it negates his production...

If he could do everything, he wouldn't have lasted until the 2nd round. I agree that lateral movement is not his strong suit, but when he makes a power move to the rim, no one knocks him down. Great compliment to a point guard who, um, is not the best shooter.

To be fair, wasn't the primary reason for Pekovic lasting until the 1st pick of round 2 because he was under contract overseas and unavailable for a couple of years?

In any case, largely unrelated...

I ran across this nugget:
- Pekovic has scored at least 18 points in 16 of the past 17 games. He's become pretty consistent in finding ways to score for an extended stretch.

Pek went in the second round partly due to his overseas contract, but also because his agent informed teams that he wouldn't come over for the mid first rookie scale that was in place at the time, and he wasn't considered to be in the top 5-10 picks.

OK, so there's nothing wrong. Then what are we doing, sjm? Or is this just an excuse to post a picture of your dog?
