Shved - Fail

Post by Q12543 [enjin:6621299] »

My goodness, I don't know if I've ever seen such putrid numbers from a guy that gets fairly regular minutes: 26 FG% and 22 3PT%. And we thought Ricky Rubio struggled to make shots!

Othyus Jeffers, where art thou?

I've been meaning to make a Shved thread for a week or so. But, he's just so easily forgettable... and that's the problem.

He's just there. I was wondering if he's the worst guard in the L who actually is part of a rotation. I think Marquise Teague (Chi) is worse. I can't think of anybody else.

For all the warts that a guy like Nick Young brings... he can WIN a game for the team on occasion. The Wolves don't have that type of guy on the roster this season. And, it's the type of guy I've been clamoring for quite some time.

[Note: I HATE watching guys like Nick Young/JR Smith/et al play basketball. It's awful. They're the anti-Rubio in almost every way. But almost every team needs an irrational confidence guy. Preferably not one that's limited athletically and only 5'8"... ahem, ahem.]

26%. Wow, I had no idea he was that bad. Pretty much untradeable at this point.

As of late Barea and Shved have both had a few decent stretches, but overall this season they have killed us. I'd like to see the Wolves explore trades for Barea, and if you can move him, let Shved take over the back up point guard role. Playing off the ball he takes way too many stupid shots and rarely creates for others. He can dribble and pass--let him do that in a 10 to 15 minute role and see if he gets some mojo back.

Barea, meh. He is what he is--a guy that should be a 9th or 10th guy off the bench that comes in to provide energy and change tempo. Then if he's hot maybe you ride him. Instead he's one of our first guys off the bench and plays like he's hot every game, which in reality is about 1 game out of 6 this season.

BAREA SHOULD NOT BE PLAYING POINT GUARD

To echo Abe, we simply don't have enough offensive threats where you look at them and say "he can score 20 on any given night." We lose to teams who have players that have those kinds of outbursts. The bench is really depressing when we have TWO guys that are capable of scoring buckets. One is Barea who is inconsistent. The other is Muhammad who doesn't play, here, D-League, anywhere. We can't trust Budinger anymore to be that.

I'd like to see Jeffers at some point replace Price.

This is a good idea, Shved is not a SG, he just seems like a natural PG to me. Last season Shved got big minutes because Rubio was out so he would predominately run the offense. But when he plays off his first instinct is to score when it should really be to pass. I loved his game last season, JJ will be 30 this offseason while Shved is 25. His size and handles alone warrant more minutes at the point, just don't have him playing SG.
