Rubio hasn't improved at all
In fact, he's gotten worse.
How do you only score 1 point when your top scorer is out?
His assertiveness is atrocious.
Anyone else worried that he will never improve to the level we need him to be at?
Right now he isn't even a top 20 PG.

Re: Rubio hasn't improved at all
I was wondering if he is a starting PG on a playoff team. How many teams would he start for that are contenders?
I know he could start for Miami, but I am not sure he would be able to beat out George Hill. Would he start for the Rockets? Lipoli mentioned this team is not built for him with athletes, but he has a good team around him,
At this point I don't think we could trade him for Burke, MCW, or Oladipo. Sad.

I'm not so sure Rubio would start for Miami.
Sure, he's a better overall player than Chalmers. But is he better for the Heat? The Heat don't need a pass-first PG or creator. They have LeBron James and even D. Wade (when he plays) to do that.
Their entire offense is built around James' all-world talent and spacing. Rubio really hurts with the spacing.

Well i have to agree with this.
Most of players coming from Europe are under developed and therefore have pretty nice chance to improve in NBA, but Ricky played for big clubs here in Europe since he was 14yo, he was coached and developed by very good personal and his inability to shoot (and other holes in his play) was really scary proposition to start with, that is not like that we are that stupid that we don't know how proper release looks like, that we don't know how should shooting arc look like etc.
It is actually quite possible that Ricky came to Minnesota more or less in WYSIWYG mode

I would have loved Kyrie Irving on this team.

Re: Rubio hasn't improved at all
From what I saw last night along with a review of the box score, Rubio was terrible. One point and six turnovers. I'm also concerned about Lip's report about Ricky's demeanor last night. If you can't get up for the world champions, who can you get up for?
I am a big Rubio fan because I generally love his competitive fire and his flashy game. But I really expect more from him in production. Right now I can't rank him in the top 15 point guards in the NBA. He is elite in only one area: steals. I want to rank him higher in assists, because he is a pass first guy with exceptional vision, but he only ranks 13th in the league in assist:turnover ratio. Not very good. And we know he ranks in the bottom three in shooting.
When Ricky is on, this offense clicks like none other in the league, and his defense is generally disruptive. But he just isn't on frequently enough offensively to be the player I think he can be. I still think the difficult early schedule has been a big factor in his poor play to date and expect that we will see significant improvement, but I can't explain his poor play last night with almost a week of rest.

Ricky has to improve offensively, otherwise he's just a bigger version of Brevin Knight. That's still a very nice career, but it isn't exactly a perennial all-star, and it certainly isn't worth a max contract.

Whew... I thought you were going to go with Chris Duhon...

I don't get to watch the games, only the NBA.com highlights (which are pretty good). Have we been converting or even attempting many lob passes this season? That's one of Rubio's strengths and I guess we don't have the "athletes" now to receive them? I never thought I'd miss Chase so much. Can Luc get up and convert those?
