I dont think I could handle a rebuild again at this point.

Might not have a choice.

If Love opts out... it's a rebuild. There's no way around it... if we go by most similar situations in NBA history. (I don't see enough similarities between the Wolves and Denver...)

Love is the key to all of this, if he stays, we have a hell of a player to build around, but if he decides to leave in free agency then we have to do a sign and trade for some draft picks. If we can add one more difference maker and remain consistent then this team is golden. Its tough to see Love staying though, Flip will have need to have a big offseason.

If things don't improve, you wouldn't be able to blame him for leaving. I mean we had 4 top-6 picks in a 3 year span (and several other 1st rounders), and we passed on Steph Curry, Lawson, Paul George, Boogie Cousins, Larry Sanders, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Bledsoe...the list goes on. It has to be frustrating.

I agree, I'd love to keep Ricky. But Pek got 12/5years, and Ricky is going to take 8? I don't think so

At least half the league is already set at starting PG, though. That limits his market, since PG is a very specific position, unlike "wing" or "forward" that you can plug into different lineups. If guys like Conley, Teague, and Jennings are getting around $8mil/year, that's pretty fair. No offense to Rubio, but he's not Tony Parker and he shouldn't be paid like it.

But you know, I was stunned at what Pek got. He has his own limitations. I think the deal with PEK was, we sign him or Portland grabs him. It will be interesting to see what happens with interest in Ricky.

You're absolutely right, small market teams like OKC seem to be ahead of the curve when it comes to the draft but Minnesota always seems to make the wrong pick. I like Saunders though, and I think we had a good offseason, hopefully he can keep Love happy.

True, and obviously a lot can change between now and contract negotiation time

Well, yeah. Keeping Love is a big part of staying the course. Hopefully if things turn sour, there will be time and a chance to move him for something good. I actually think he is going to stay though.

you cannot compare markets with big guys and guards, look what other big guys got paid last offseason, Splitter at 10 mil/y, Big Al at 13.5mil/y, year before McGee at 10mil/y, PEKs 12 mil/y is completely OK

market with guards is much more loaded and prices are much lower, just look around league and watch what are very good guards getting paid
