His basketball IQ is so elite that you have to keep him around. Plus he is so young, give him a few more years, and for 8 million a year? That would be a steal.

I love the comments about Ricky's BBall IQ being so high. Please explain your self so I can understand what makes him stand out in this area. What I see is a guy that has the same HUGE holes in his game that he has had his entire 6-7 year professional life. He is big, strong and great with the ball, yet he can't drive to the basket and make anything if a defender is near him. A guy with his physical makeup, and this perceived lofty IQ would certainly have figured out a way to make a layup consistently by now. Even guys like Rondo quickly adapted their games and became efficient. Just because Rubio is a dynamic passer doesn't make his BBall IQ off the charts.

And the "young" comment doesn't sit with me either. Like I said above, this guy has been a professional basketball player for 6-7 years and has yet to really improve on anything. His strengths have always been his strengths, and his weaknesses are all still there.

Also, early results on the Trey Burke trade are not looking good for the Wolves. When will this team learn that stars and great NBA players are much more apt to come from your top 10 picks, rather than later in the draft. In the NBA, WAY more than any other league, you want quality over quantity. Burke would have offered us a better bench player than Barea this year, and probably our future starter after next season. What a perfect siutaion for him.

See, his agent is Bill Duffy, the most important former University of Minnesota student ever, more important than Flop Saunders, Kevin Mchale, Neal Broten, or even Hubert Humphrey and Warren Burger. As a matter of fact, Flop's insistence on signing another Duffy client (Olawakandi) helped grease the skids for his first departure.

I also find it odd that you feel MIN shies away from top 10 picks. They very recently had a very, um, long run of top ten picks, with, um, mixed results.

The "secret" to drafting "great NBA players" is simple: When you pick, the results have to be no worse than he has better career than every pick that comes after him and every non-drafted free agent signed after him. The Wolves have done that exactly twice in 25 years: Garnett and Love. Two in 25 years is not exactly what you're looking for. Hummel might be #3, but he was drafted #50, so yeah.

Because that's how the new NBA works to an extent. Just look at the mess Anthony/JR Smith/Chris Smith have made in NY because of being with the same agent.
