Before deciding to deal Love the Wolves should explore trades for Pekovic. He would be a great fit on and have a lot of value to a team with length and athleticism up front. Having length and athleticism at the C and SF positions next to Love up front with Ricky and Kevin Martin in the back court, this team might go places. For example, Noah and Deng.

If no one wanted to sign Pek as an RFA why would they want his salary now? Just playing the devil's advocate with that one. I think he has value with the right kind of lineup. But defensively Pek and Love together are an issue.

I don't see a team giving fair trade value for Pekovic so that's why I'd keep him. Also, centers like him are hard to find, whether you like him or not. He's a consistent 20-point threat every night. How many centers can say the same? Dwight Howard, Brook Lopez and who? Also, I still consider Cousins/Horford/Bosh as PFs playing out of position at C.

If we do my hypothetical proposed deal (receiving Butler/Mirotic/2 firsts/Hinrich), we'd have two lottery picks (MIN and CHI) with CHA being playoff bound so that's a mid-first. Could do a lot of damage in the draft. Assuming we don't strike lottery gold and get a top-two pick, we'd likely have two top ten picks.

Why not draft Marcus Smart and Zach LaVine with two lotteries, and someone like Aaron Gordon with the other first rounder. Add athleticism in bunches.

Smart/Rubio/Hinrich
Martin/LaVine
Butler/Budinger
Mirotic/Gordon
Pekovic/Dieng

Brewer would be dealt to a team needing a high energy bench player. He'd have a decent market even for us to receive a mehh return.

I know this is a fantasy post, but the potential of that team is stupid high and has athleticism everywhere except for Pek.

I'd suggest that everyone step back from the ledge for a second.

over the past 10 games we are 5-5.......

7 of those games have been road games...... we are 3-4 on those road games. beforehand we were 2-6 on the road. one of the games we won on the road was a team with a winning record......that is the only time this year that we have done that.

The combined record of those 10 teams is 155-108. that is an average winning percentage of .590. 6 of the teams have .500 records or better.

Our bench has started playing better more often. Before the past 10 games, our bench shot below .400 FG% more often than not. During the past 10 games, the bench has shot over .400 more than it hasn't.

Us holding our own over that time period impresses me, plus we are getting better on the road and our bench is playing better.

Even good teams have bad nights..............and we have improved to be about an average team at this point......i think the progression will continue.

markkbu, you make really good points and my faith in the team is still decently strong, but I'm always open to entertaining a discussion about trades and/or the draft, especially the 2014 draft that looks loaded with gamechangers.

We'll know if this team can get to where they need to be after January. If they're still hovering around .500, might as well blow it up. Though, I'm on record for us being better than that. Wish we would quit losing "easy" ones, though. CLE, WAS, BOS, LAL. Those need to be Ws. Should be something like 16-11 right now.

If the team wants to blow it up, fine, but I'm not gonna stick around for another 10 years of losing. I'm just not.

There's just no way Flip or Glen can beg us to just build it, see what they can do, make up blueprints, pay the picks. It's all useless. I just don't trust the organization anymore.

Oh but where will you go? Will you become a Blazers fan?

I'm not changing teams. I just wouldn't invest any emotion into a situation that won't change. There's always a team in major sports that just never wins, never has its day in the sun, the antithesis of the teams that win all the time. The Browns, Blue Jackets, the Cubs. Maybe we're just that team in the NBA. Just depressing. I could never look at the powers that be in this organization and think it's all gonna be different from the last 10 years that Glen oversaw. I'd feel different if Glen sold the team but he's keeping it, so if he wanted to do something different, then I haven't seen it. Flip's been here for less than a year and it still feels like we have the dumbest guys running the team. What would convince me different? Blind hope? This team's done a good job of abusing the good faith we've had in these guys.

Tough loss - embarrassing in fact - but it's not time to do anything yet, especially trade your superstar, where it would be impossible to get equal value in return.

Maybe time to trade the coach?

Maybe we should realize that the Adelman system isn't a great fit for Rubio and Pek, and that you have to have some athleticism in today's NBA.
