I think it might help a little, but it's still just shuffling the deck chairs of a somewhat wayward ship. Brew and Luc aren't going to suddenly shoot the ball better.

With the starters, I don't think Mbah a Moute needs to suddenly shoot the ball better. He's decent at cutting and he's a good rebounder for a SF. So if all he gets are cutting layups, putback layups, layups in transition and free throws here and there, I'll take it. One of the things I kept being pissed about was how many times Brewer would take a jumpshot. Mbah a Moute knows his strengths and he knows his weaknesses. His career FGA per game is 6 if I remember correctly. That means he's only taking shots that he should be. It also means more FGAs for K-Love, K-Mart and Pek. All three have a better chance of putting the ball in the hoop than MaM or Brewer.

Brewer being on that second unit is going to be interesting. It's where I initially wanted him (said pre-season that I wanted D-Will to start; quickly realized that wouldn't happen). Hopefully he'll be able to be that sixth man. I do feel more confident about that unit's offense with him there, though. At the very least, he'll be able to snag a rebound and take off or catch a simple outlet pass from DC/Hummel and race down court. Hopefully get a layup and/or shooting foul. That's always been something he's good at.

Cam, You're right that MaM plays with a lot more discretion than Brewer. He's the classic role playing starter that gives you 25-30 minutes per night, great defense, and low-risk shots and passes. Damn, I just wish he had a 3-point shot!

I feel like at this point Flip and Rick will roll the rest of the way with this crew. Hopefully Budinger comes back healthy and offers us some much-needed perimeter shooting.

I wonder if they'll be able to find a better backup PG and/or shotblocker. Just straight off the top of my head two guys if healthy I'd like to see acquired for the right price: Chauncey Billups and Ekpe Udoh. I wasn't a fan of trading D-Will for Udoh, but I like Shved or DC or something else for him. If not Billups, what about Ramon Sessions or Steve Blake maybe. I feel like our second unit needs a play-creator. Barea isn't that. He's a spark plug. Two different things in my opinion from a backup PG and a spark plug.

I actually like Price as a backup PG and wouldn't mind seeng him get more minutes. What our second lacks the most is scoring punch, regardless of position. JJ is our only scorer off the bench. That's not good enough. I don't think Billups has anything left in the tank. But I could see Flip making a deal to get him because of their history together.. Steve Blake would be a nice addition. Udoh is an interesting idea for his shot blocking.
