Championship Belt

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

Here's an idea stolen from the rubechat and reddit boards.

One of the things I like about pro boxing (okay, pro wrestling too) is that a new world champion is crowned every time the current champion loses a bout...none of this waiting around until June crap. We can do the same on our own with the NBA. Currently, the 76ers have the championship belt because they beat the previous champions Heat in the first game of the season, and have survived both of their challenges. The next championship match is tomorrow night, with the Golden State Warriors poised to steal the belt away.

Could be fun to track in this thread, especially when our Wolves get their first title bout. (Spoiler alert: if the Warriors beat the 76ers tomorrow night, the Wolves will host a World Championship title battle on Wednesday night!!!!!).

As expected, the Warriors TKO the Sixers and leave town with the belt. Next stop: Target Center, where our Wolves have a chance to beat the newly-crowned world champions. Go Wolves!

Sounds fun. The Warriors game is going to be a fun one to watch as it should be a high scoring affair. Let's hope we can out score them underneath because if we try to shoot them out of the gym they have a clear advantage.

The Wolves have a horrible track record against Golden State, especially in recent years. It seems like no matter who plays for them, they magically become great shooters, especially when playing us.

I'm personally not looking forward to tonight because I feel like we'll get torched by ridiculous shot-making. We need to put Rubio on Curry, Brewer on Klay Thompson, and Martin on Iggy and then hope for the best.

Golden State is far from unbeatable. Personally, I feel like Rubio is about to hold Steph to a quiet night. Klay's dangerous, but he isn't an iso player and Brewer does well chasing players off ball. Iggy's more of a creator for others. As long as our rotations don't break down like they did in Cleveland, this will be a very good game to watch.

We'll need high end defensive performances from rubio and brewer to make this a good game.

Our rotations didn't break down as much as they took us one on one to the basket. They gave it to Bynum down low a lot and CJ miles played a great game. Golden State is a lot of ball movement and shooters, it's gonna be rough because Martin doesn't fight through screens well, I feel like whoever he is guarding is gonna light it up running off of back door cuts for jumpers.
