For The Sake of Equal Treatment

Post by foye2smith [enjin:6593248] »

Opening night Williams got a DNP and was ripped for having a terrible laughable demeanor on the sidelines. Posters had no trouble dragging Derrick through the mud as a player that didn't care. The last two games Rubio has looked indifferent and lethargic both on the court and on the bench. I don't know if it's the shooting slump or something in his personal life but this isn't the Rubio we're used to. His body language reads like he just got a voicemail from Richie Ingognito.

Pek hasn't had very good body language out there either. He's been playing lazy it feels like.

I'm sure it'll just take some time to remedy those two; Rubio to get passed his slump and Pek to refind his complementary role from 2 seasons ago. I think The Kevin Martin signing has really affected him, taking the ball and shots out of his hands.

Peks problems have nothing to do with Martin, his problem has been when the ball IS in his hands.

The other thing I've noticed about Pek is that his offensive rebounding is suffering. There were a few times tonight where it looked like he had good position, but he couldn't corral the ball in. His hands seem awful this year.

Agree with sp that pek's struggles has nothing to do with martin or anybody. The looks and shots he takes are the same he took in the past 2 years. His timing and coordination has just been off, possibly due to conditioning or effort.

Rubio is in a slump. Ive said this before, for rubio to be an all star, he has got to be a respectable mid range shooter. Defenders are playing him for the pass right now and shows no respect to his shot. That mid range jumper off picks is a shot rubio can shoot cleanly and if he had that down, he will be even deadlier off pick and rolls with love and pek.

The problem is that this has been an issue for a couple of years now. If he doesn't start improving on it this year, I'm not sure it will ever come. We'll see. He showed some signs of better shooting in the Euro tourney and pre-season, but so far he's been as bad as ever in the regular season. You are absolutely right that he can't be a top-flight PG without being more of a scoring threat.

We agree on that q. I like rubio but he is not an all star level pg right now. Some try to point at rondo and kidd as all star pg's who cant shoot as well. But those 2 have something that rubio dont. For rondo, he is an elite athlete, he has that deadly 1 hand floater and he can finish above the rim. Kidd, in his peak years was a big pg who uses his size and strength to post up smaller pg to get points.

Rubio dont have the strength or athletic ability of either. For him to reach that next level, he needs to be a mid range threat. Thats a shot he can get off easily and will only make it harder for the defenders in defending him off the pick and roll. Try to be more like chris paul in that paul is an excellent mid range shooter who has his sweet spot on the elblows.

Rubio is shooting too far out. Anything past 15 feet he should not be allowed to take until he starts shooting over 40%. He just doesn't have the lift.

Rubio is also getting to the line relatively infrequently to be an elite PG. Missing all your shots and not getting to the line is not a good combo.
