Did anyone keep tabs on the Kevin Martin haters?

Bloop is right. There were a lot of Martin and Brewer haters and now we ain't hearing them. The comment I remember the most was from Lip saying how dull Flip looked for making the moves. He wanted Reddick bad. He called me out for backing Flip up and defending his intelligence.

Sorry Mael -- You are wrong! I hated the idea of Redick and posted that I didn't want to sign a guy about the same size as Ridnour as our starting SG. I had a slight preference for Mayo over Martin, but I posted favorable comments on the Martin acquisition. Did I express reservations about Martin's defense and injury history? Yes. But those are facts. By his own admission, he's not a very good defender and he has averaged less than 65 games per season during his career because of various injuries. Nevertheless I'm on record favoring the acquisition especially in lieu of signing Flip's first choice, Redick.

My main criticisms of Flip were the Shabazz pick in the draft, paying $10 million a year for two perennial bench players, Brewer and Chase, and not making sure we gave a true, proven starting caliber SF.

Lip - You may not agree with the choice, but Budinger IS the starting caliber SF the Wolves signed this off-season, or at least that was their plan.

Mael, i remember the brewer haters, and i remember people saying that we paid to much for Martin. I just don't remember any hate towards Martin.........the hate towards Martin wasn't close to the hate towards Brewer.

Mark your right about the Brewer hate. It was really high. Higher than the Martin hate. Also, the Shabazz/dieng trade hate was ridiculously high.

I defend all the moves and Even though its early I think they will work out.

From what I have seen, I trust Flips moves. Right now It looks like Brewer and Martin were both good decisions (and good contracts).

It does look like all the haters have dissipated a bit.

I wasn't too bothered on who we signed out of Martin, Mayo or Reddick. But I I did prefer Mayo due to his age and thought he'd be a good fit next to Rubio. But I'm delighted at how well Martin has worked out for us. The guy can flat out score, something we haven't had at that position since a guy named Sprewell was on this team.

I was one of the few who were happy about the Brewer signing. He brings 110% every game, and that's something that wears off on other teammates. I felt we overpaid a little bit to get him, but he's been earning his salary thus far, so no complaints from me.

I've said it so many times, but the Budinger injury hurts this team more than what a lot of people think. He's the guy that we need coming off the bench!

Lip, this is looking a bit revisionist to me. A bunch of people complained about flip for a number of reasons. There were a lot of arguments against Brewer, but that he was a "perennial bench player" was not one of the primary ones.. Anyone that would have said that would have been called out pretty quickly for being uninformed.

The only year that he didn't start atleast about 1/3 of the games was they year that he played behind AI, and we all know that most SFs in the league wouldn't start infront of AI.

Brewer had started over 160 games in the league before we resigned him, so saying that he was a "perennial bench player" would have been obviously untrue and probably identified pretty quickly.

But, WOW does flip look like a genius now for signing Brewer to only a $5 million deal. I hate to think of where we would be so far this season without Brewer.

Might be more prudent to look at his time after he was traded off the horrendous Minny squad, since most think he improved dramatically since then. That would take off 147 of those "games started".

Regardless of where he started, saying that he didn't start is not true. Brewer has started about 45% of all games that he has played in.

As great as Martin as been so far, it's difficult to give Flip the thumbs up so early on this signing. If Martin plays 65 or more games, I'm reasonably certain that most on this board will agree that Flip did a great job. But if he plays 45 or fewer, most of us will say he should have pursued Redick or Mayo more aggressively.
