Adding a Veteran

Post by thedoper »

Sounds like Adelman wants some more vets in front of Shabazz:

I saw the Williams for Turner idea put out there on the other thread. Scary Zgoda bringing up Josh Howard again, although he did look good for us last year in a few games.

"Brown and Hummel are prime candidates for a move to the Wolves' D-League affiliate, the Iowa Energy.

Those moves would leave Jeffers and Price on the final roster unless Saunders and Co. opt to go after Hamilton or another option."

Wow, so our Wolves wouldn't keep either Hummel or Brown with the Wolves? That surprised me.

Camden, you're a knowledgeable pro BB viewer. Why would you think Hummel or Brown are the best candidates out there? One is a bit lame, although he can shoot, and the other rook is just too unpredictable.

My concern with signing Rip Hamilton...... Knee issues.

Smells of Brandon Roy 2.0

Because they're young, have potential and they're both cheap. That and we could use Hummel's shooting and smart basketball IQ whereas Brown has the capability of guarding both backcourt positions AND being our third PG. I don't see either of them logging big or even significant minutes, but there are far worse 14th and 15th roster spots on other teams.

Just didn't see sending them both to D-League and keeping Price and Jeffers OR a combo of one of them plus someone else who hasn't even been in our camp. That was my point.

My concern with Rip Hamilton....He sucks.

This isn't 2004.

Not really a fair comment towards Rip. Guy averaged 14 points in 2010 on 43/38/85 percent shooting. Just saying, he has been good since 2004.

Unless the rules have changed the idea that Brown and Hummel are canidates to be assigned to Des Moines while other guys get the final roster spots can't happen you would think people writing reports would know this. Those guys might be able to play there, but the Wolves won't hold their rights or anything. If there has been a change (there should be) let me know I would love to be proved wrong. I can't wait till the NBDL is a true minor league system. I need to go to a Skyforce game in the next year even though its not affiliated with the Wolves anymore. I should got to an Iowa Energy game too.

I'll add something about Rip. Its not like he hasn't done anything for years. just a little over a year ago in his first season he was pretty effective shooting the ball and oddly enough Rip actually can play PG in limited minutes because he is very savvy. I could see him being a Terry Porter (when he helped out the young wolves KG and Marbury) type influence to this team. I think he can still kinda play. How well? Maybe not that great, but I bet him being sorta decent is better or equal than some crappy end of the bench guy to fill out the end of the roster. Would he sign for the minimum? IDK he would really have to want to play basketball for that chump change. LOL
