Q's on the right track about salary disparity. There's $15M tied up in new contracts for SFs, and Dante, a $2M guy, got the start last night. Fans are too quick to be alarmed about Dante's start. Adelman isn't saying he would be the regular starter, only in certain situations he could match up better on defense. Everyone knows the big SFs in the NBA are going to get their 30 points on a regular basis. Adelman is only saying Dante may be able to keep them from going for 40.

I'd agree with the BB IQ thing Tim, but it ultimately comes down to putting the ball In the basket. I don't see this team as having enough talent at it's current level to compete for a title. DW is one of the guys that can move that needle. Guys like Bud, Brewer, DC and Hummel aren't going to show any significant improvement in the future. I don't want to settle for an extra win or two this season by risking an improvement down the road. I think Adelman is too "Old School" to be effective. If he was coaching a team with a player like Duncan, it would be fine, but we don't have that type of leader on this team that would put the other guys in their place. This a job for the majority of these guys now, not their life. Williams is not the type of guy that is going to respond to discipline or benching. He clearly needs to be coddled, and I don't understand why Adelman doesn't see this.
Q, with respect to the salaries, we have already spent that money. We don't get credit for playing guys making less money. If they want to move DW for something else of value, that is fine with me if the upside is there. Coaches are always touting that they don't look at the salaries though.

This tweet just crossed my screen, and I thought it was fitting:

Interesting to read reactions to #NBA players waived. Fans base it on preseason games. Coaches/GMs base it almost entirely on practice.
