2015 free agents

Post by Jester1534 »

Just thought I post a list of guys that I wouldn't mind us taking a look at to sign.

Cuddy contract is up with the Rockies it would be nice to bring home and end his career here, don't know if he could still play right field then we could move him or Arica to left

Torii hunter same reasons as cuddy but could eventual mentor a Buxton just like he did Denard and just like how Kirby did with him. I doubt he will come here because he probably still chasing that ring.

Melkey Cabrera pipe dream

Starting pitchers

Justin masterson, I think that his pitching style would fit in target field and have the same effect Hughes got from the ball park.

Chad billingsley & josh Johnson I realize these guys have been hurt but there both low tier guys we can sign and hope for the best let's face it were not going after a shields or max schezer there just not gonna spend that type of money.

I really would love taking a flyer on Josh Johnson. The kid is super talented and would be able to get cheaper. Wouldnt mind Billingsley. As for the old timers, I think we stick to the plan and let them go elsewhere. Toriis defense is a shell of what it used to be and mostly is a dh and just dont think we need to take away at bats from prospects.

Masterson wouldnt be a bad guy either. I just really hope we are competitive next year. Its been way too long with terrible baseball being played.

Cuddyer just signed last week with the Mets, so he's off the table. And I agree that Hunter likely wants a shot at his first ring. He also ranked dead last in outfield defense last year, so I wouldn't want to add him to an outfield that already isn't very good defensively.

I wonder how aggressive we are going to be this year in going after starting pitching this year after getting Nolasco and Hughes. I know they are really unhappy with Nolasco, both personally and professionally, but they still owe him a lot of money, When you pencil in Hughes, Gibson, Milone and Nolasco, there's only room for one more...May is the frontrunner, but most want Meyer to get the job. There has been some talk about us in the running for Hammel, and that does nothing for me. The only guy I would take a flyer on, and only if he was cheap, is Masterson. I know he was terrible last year, but he can be a scary when he has control of that awesome slider. If he can regain his control, he will be a very good pitcher again.

Twins are in a weird spot this offseason when it comes to FAs. They obviously need more talent at the major league level but they are also loaded with prospects but some of them are a year or more away. Like LST said they have 4-5 guys you could put in the rotation right now do you sign another SP for 3+ years?

The good news is Suzuki takes care of the catching position which was a hole last year with only young guys to fill. They have some young options at SS and Plouffe was decent at 3rd so the infield I'm not sure you add anything there which wasn't the case last year. OF there isn't a sure thing out there so I guess they probably need to add some kind of legit vet there even though they have like 300 OF prospects. Lol. I guess my point is while the record last year wasn't different I think there are fewer holes to fill all around and that includes SP. Hughes and Gibson is better than what we had last year going into the offseason which was basically Correia and some question marks. Brutal.
