It's here... the Kevin Love drama is ramping up...

Post by AbeVigodaLive »

Depending how connected you think Zach Lowe and Bill Simmons are (I know the general feelings toward Simmons)... there was a lot of "not a good situation", "things are getting ugly", "it's nearing the time where it could be too late"...

The run for Love begins in earnest. Buckle up kids. It's going to be bumpy. And, it will end with Wolves fans battered and bruised... that's how the NBA works.

agreed we are down to our last shot, that's why I have zero problem with trading a bunch of players like JJ, Bud, MBM, etc

we are going nowhere and no real value bullets to bring in a huge piece in a trade so we might as well shake up the group that doesn't include Rubio, Love, and Pek

Take Andre MIller, Prince, and Tony Allen in it doesn't really hurt us cap wise in the end we have to do something we can't just watch as the ship sinks and do nothing

all we have left in our bag is a few balls of shit, you might as well through them at the wall and see if they stick, what have you got to lose?

Lowe called that Memphis deal "shuffling the deck chairs" which I think most of us have realized for quite some time is pretty much all the Wolves have right now.

Good post Abe. I'm learning to lower expectations when it comes to a Minnesota NBA franchise. Too many disadvantages. You basically have to hope you can catch lightning in a bottle.

I've seen a lot of Wolves basketball over a pretty long time. Some of it was when I was a misguided, overly optimistic kid/teen.

Eventually, following Wolves basketball year after year, decade after decade... will beat that out of you.

Plus, it lets you boast that you were right again.

I don't think they have a good hold on the Love situation. His options outside of MN are not that great, so why would his value diminish going into this offseason. He could go to the capped out Lakers and play next to Kobe and Nash and be a lottery team for a few years until Kobe's deal is up. He could take over for Dirk in Dallas and also have no stars next to him. His only chance at a winner is via trade and that puts the leverage with us. I'd try to snake David Lee, Harrison Barnes and Klay Thompson from the Warriors. I'd try to snake Ibaka, Lamb, Jackson and Adams out of the Thunder. I'd try to snake Gibson, Butler, Snell and every pick they have for the better part of the next decade from the Bulls. We have the leverage regardless of what others think because most good teams in the NBA don't have cap space to sign Love outright which is the only situation in which we lose the leverage.

How bout a deal with Philly with Love and Martin for Noel, Turner and/or Young and there first this year? We finish the season most likely doing terrible, get two high draft picks with ours and phillys and can dare I say it rebuild yet again. Love is not going to stay.

FWIW, Simmons didn't include any Wolves on his 30 worst contracts in the league, does that mean he thinks Flip isn't doing a bad job? Possibly. Maybe Love sees potential too if we bring in a better coach.

But yes, we would make the top 50 with a couple of our players.

"Prior 2 AS break, KL alerted Flip he'll exercise summer '15 out & sign elsewhere. Expect him 2B moved B4 deadline or off season" -- Peter Vecsey

How much do we actually believe this? He just had a couple of tweets about this.

Then again, here's a Deadspin link hating on Vecsey's credibility. http://deadspin.com/157443/why-your-hometown-columnist-sucks-peter-vecsey

Peter Vecsey:

"The Pacers' Ron Artest to Seattle for Brent Barry"

"Steve Francis going to the Denver Nuggets in the next 48 hours"

Boooo. Not credibile enough to believe him.
