Do not trade Pek under any circumstances until the Love situation is resolved. Why deal Pek only to watch Love leave anyway? It would be the Wolves-y thing to do, compound Love's inevitable exit by trading Pek only to watch Love and Rubio leave.

A major underrated part of this is that this summer the team can open up negotiations with Rubio. Who's to say the agent would even entertain the offers? It's not as if they ever really wanted Ricky to be here.

I wouldn't trade Pek either. One because I don't see any team giving up fair value right now or this off-season, two because that's one of Love's guys. Trade a guy he considers a brother and we'll have a tougher time re-signing him, I believe. That's one where you (GM) better show Kevin all the details of the trade and have him give the OK or not.

Think Ricky would like to stay if Kevin and Nikola are here. I also think there's a chance we give him more money than he's worth right now, but he could still grow to be better than his contract.. if you understand what I'm saying.

I agree, I think Love will end up leaving and have said we should get as much as we can for him now. We probably won't get someone as talented as Love though so the idea of trading Pek would be a last attempt at keep Love. Either Love or Pek needs to be traded this summer, they just don't bring enough to the table defensively to ever get above an 8th seed. If we don't trade Pek I see us as about a .500 team ending just outside the playoffs, if that happens Love walks and at best we end up getting minimal value in a sign and trade. However, if we trade Pek and add an impact player at SG or SF I could see a scenario with us making the playoffs and Love sticking around.

The starters with Pek-Love-Rubio almost always dominates the other teams starters, a lot of times by double digits, Defense or not

And how well do those starters do in the 4th quarter of close games? It doesn't mean anything to dominate a teams in the first quarter of a regular season games when the other team isn't giving 100%

For the most part it's been the bench's fault for not keeping the lead the same length or even losing the lead entirely.

Expirings:

Mbah a Moute- $4.4M

Barea- $4.5M

Turiaf- $1.6M (cheap, would like to keep him)

Shved- $3.2M

Some contracts we could use in trades for next season.

Not sure if we can get anything out of our collection of expirings. Outside of turiaf as a useful backup, they arent an attractive bunch. And i want to keep turiaf as back up c.

Considering turner and hawes were traded for very little returns. And we have ben gordon being brought out, expirings dont have much value unless you are trading for a bad contract or you have a very good young cheap player to package them with.

Only other option is to do what golden state did and dump their expirings on a team(the jazz in their case) and use the saved salary to sign an impact free agent(iggy) or have a large trade exception to absorb a player. Problem is, you have to package draft picks to the team your dumping your expirings on.

Flip just needs to step up and have a clear path on what he wants to accomplish. No more mid level money deals on role players and no more band aid solutions where you make a trade that doesn't move the needle. Go for a big move and get creative flip.
