I don't think that would be enough to get a deal done, but it does keep it within the realm of possibility. And history shows when LA wants to acquire an asset they usually get it. At least this wasn't another Love for Pau straight up trades.

A lot of reasons love might want to end up with lakers? Name them...

He went to school in LA, his dad was a Laker, his hero is Jerry West, he trains in LA every summer, his GF is an actress, they really want him, there are great looking women there, it is sunny all year, you can surf, the clubs, cops and cars, the topless bars, hollywood etc etc etc. If it really was all about winning he would have not resigned with us.

He went to college for a year there. His dad was a Laker for only two years. His hero is likely a combo of his dad and Wes Unseld amongst the NBA greats like Jordan, Hakeem, D.Robinson and others that he watched growing up.

Love doesn't look like a surf guy. There's great looking women in every US state, matter of fact. I'm sure Kevin's already realized that Minnesota has it's own crop of dimes. Love doesn't seem like a clubber. Blah blah. None of these reasons will be why he leaves. It'll come down to where Kevin feels like he can win.

Why didn't Dwight re-sign if LA's so great? Why does Kevin feel like Minnesota has a better foundation than LA? Way more confident in him staying here than going to LA.

The Lakers have a history of winning no? Love talked about how much he loved Jerry West when he tweeted the picture of West's bio. Let me put it this way. Who would you take in a bet for having a better record in 5 years? If the Lakers somehow do have a top 3 pick we should listen. Like I said in my first post in this thread, I don't think just that pick would be enough at this point. Where there's smoke there's fire. Seldom do rumours that a player wants off a team turn out to be totally unfounded. Our only way out of this (ie keeping Love) is to shoot for the moon and have it work. Trading Barea is not going to make us a contender.

Why did ABC decide to give us Knicks/Lakers a couple weeks ago as their "game of the week"? I'll go ahead and answer that for you. Because they felt a bad game with bigger markets would make them more money than a Spurs or OKC game which would have been better for fans, but not for money.

So there's always a push by the league and especially the media to get big players in bigger markets. Steven Adams might bring in more New Zealand fans for OKC Matty, but they'll still try and push Durant to join up with another superstar and join the Nets.

The factor with the Lakers that nobody is talking about is that it isn't the same ownership that brought the Lakers all their success. Jim buss son is a complete idiot. The guy punked out phil jackson, lost dwight, signed Kobe to an ungodly extension. That's not somebody who is very smart
