firing adelman would piss love off big time. bottom line

Damn Britt Robson. I was going to post a quip about letting Kevin Love decide who the next coach is. Robson put it into print first...

"Thus, if coach Rick Adelman does indeed decide he is too old to continue trying to reverse the Wolves' tenacious dysfunction, Love needs a strong say on Adelman's replacement."

Yep. The team's future is tied to Kevin Love. Whether he leaves in FA... or gets traded... the team would be rebuilding. And as I've noted before, I don't think (since the Wolves are already saddled with one of the worst attendance sheets) this market will tolerate that right now. So, it's basically Love or Bust.

For better or worse. Appease the big man anyway you can and hope for the best.

I think Adelman has to share in the blame when it comes to the roster. He has gotten rid of the players he didn't want, and I have to believe had a big say in the replacements.

The one thing I can't stand about him is his treatment of Rubio. Do you see his reaction EVERY time Ricky commits a turnover? Burying his head in his hands, stomping his feet, acting disgusted. Same way he treated Derrick. However, you never see him do this when JJ does something ridiculous. And I can't stand watching these 4th quarters melt away with JJ on the floor in lieu of Rubio. It's gotten really hard to see every night.

I have a sneaky suspicion we're going to get some leaked information after Adelman leaves that offers more detail on his relationship with Rubio... or his thoughts on having Rubio as the team's 2nd most important player.

Nothing earth-shattering. More of the "Adelman grew increasingly frustrated by Rubio's lack of shooting improvement" or "willingness to work on shooting" or something like that.

Because the team has gone down in flames with Barea. And to put Barea in that sort of position is a testament to how the team is constructed/coached. I'm definitely not saying the record would be different with Rubio if Adelman stuck with him every time no matter what... just that the PG spot has been a glaring weakness with both guys in the 4th quarters this season.

And that Rubio has not exactly been given the same liberties as many "2nd most important players" around the league.

I look back at the clippers loss in LA. Adelman choose Martin to handle the ball instead of Ricky and we lost the game over a 5% ft difference. I had a bigger problem there too though, that it was about instilling confidence in Ricky as our leader. I think that Adelman thinks that discipline is the best way to promote good habits. This absolutely seems to be his philosophy in player development. Well that and having young players play Horse with RJ to improve their shooting. I have seen this repeatedly with Adelman, where he will favor vets to the point of insanity. I am fine with that if the vets truly are competent. But Martin and Barea have been erratic at best, and haven't shone anything to deserve confidence when it matters any more than Rubio. I just don't understand why it is dragging on with Adelman. He hasn't done anything here to merit some sort of graceful exit. His record here speaks for itself.

Dumb to point at adelman for that clippers play. Martin didn't have a ball handling problem. He slipped. Got fouled too but they weren't going to call it on paul. More of a freak play then bad coaching

If you think it was wise ball handling to sprint to the far end of the court with no outlet so you can be trapped then we have completely different views of what a "ball handling problem" is. He slipped because he was under pressure and panicked and was likely diving to get a call.

I think the 5% was probably worth it in that case. The steal was a pretty fluky play that probably happens less than 5% of the time. One of those plays that happens 96 straight times where we don't even think about it.

It is really just one example of a continuing lack of confidence that Adelman is showing in Ricky at the end of games. It is fine to think that Adelman made the right call there (even though it wasn't). But it does show that in Adelman's mind, there is an issue with his PG having the ball in his hands in pressure situations.

Rubio was the inbound passer. That's the bigger job then getting fouled

You think Doc would have set up Chris Paul as the inbound passer, or Tony Parker, or name your PG? Crazy.
