We are toast - Suns at Wolves GDT
Re: We are toast - Suns at Wolves GDT
This team needs to be more uptempo like last night. It just fits the personnel and especially Thad. The good news is Phoenix will always bait the Wolves into running as the Wolves, who do not have much of an identity, usually fall into whatever style the opposition plays. Looking forward to seeing my Wolves live in Phoenix in 8 days. The Wolves match up well with Phx so I expect more good games between them.

I am with you. As much as I liked Adrien we are better off giving the minutes to AB and have a backup center for the development POV.

Wiggins seems to be thriving right now. So, whatever Flip is doing... keep doing it.
His minutes have been getting up there, which I think for a kid his age can be good and bad. Athletically he has stood up to the rigors so far and doesn't seem to be showing signs of wear or slowing down, but as Martin and Rubio return we should see his minutes dip to a more reasonable and sustainable level. At least I hope.
I believe it was David Thorpe who recently said something along the lines of running a young guy out for 30+ minutes isn't necessarily advantageous to his development. Quality over quantity of minutes still rules the day, and if the sheer quantity cuts into his durability or longevity of his career, that's where the problem lies.
Maybe. But I'm not seeing too many bad habits forming even amid all the losing. The unsufferable losing. He's still letting the game come to him, with more flashes of making a concerted effort when it does. For now, run with it.
I wouldn't worry about Wiggins 10 years down the line at this point, not in today's marketplace. It's about getting him ready for next season and the following season... when the Wolves (hopefully) start making their way into relevancy.
I think to your point it's true we shouldn't worry too much about 10 years down the road, especially in light of his improved all-around play with extended minutes, but there is a lot of evidence showing overuse, regardless of the level of athlete, leads to more injuries. Who knows though, Wiggins could be one of those uber freaks that just doesn't get injured. I'm really hoping so, but I'd rather see him at his average of 32 MPG instead of the ~40 MPG he's at the last 5.
If we're losing games anyway, is another 8 minutes really going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things?
EDIT: I'm actually all in favor of Wiggins playing every minute of every game. I never want to see him leave the court. He's that fun to watch develop. But I also want to see him suit up every game for the next 15 years.

Yeah, he's playing way more than the rookie average, would like to see Martin get back soon and take some of those minutes, or maybe even GRIII. This losing steak is horrendous, we need a full squad for at least a week until the next round of injuries

I think it is less about the minutes per night and more of nights per week.
