what's the most disappointing ....
Minnesota sports experience uve had?
For me it wasn't the 98 Vikings season . Only becuz that season was so much fun to watch week in week out . Id have to go with the year the Vikes got shut out in the playoffs against the Giants. That team completely gave up before half time. Since then I've always rooted for my teams ( Wolves, Twins, Vikings,Gophers) with a glass is half empty approach.

Most disappointing would be between the 98 Vikings and the 03 Wolves.

I knew once Sam went down it was over. I was pretty proud that team hung tough without him.
I was also pretty bummed the year the Gophers lost to Kentucky . Big Sam Jacobsen fan.

09 Vikings was also disappointing with bounty gate and Favre getting crushed with no calls. I felt like we should have been the team to represent the NFC that year. 98 was a bigger heartbreak though.

98 vikes. Anderson....it still hurts.

Every Twins playoff loss to the fucking Yankees.

I just got indigestion reading this thread. These events all sent me into a mini depression.

Every incident mentioned in this thread was painful to some extent, but one's first big disappointment is often their worst. And being the senior member of the board, my most disappointing experience goes back a lot further. I was a freshman in college and all settled in to watch the 17 1/2 point favorite Minnesota Vikings demolish the Kansas city Chiefs in the Super Bowl. I didn't know yet that the Twin Cities professional sports teams were cursed, so I just assumed the Vikes were going to win by 30. I remember getting sicker and sicker to my stomach as the game unraveled, and I still wasn't able to go to classes the next day. Every big loss since then has been a little easier to take.

Nice. I remember my dad telling me everything was going to be ok when Atlanta finally won the 98 game. I was kicking furniture and pulling my hair out. He said I would learn to accept it eventually. I feel that I have made some progress since then, but there is something to be said of having witnessed failure for so long. My question is that if this attitude has seeped into media, ownership, and management of teams as well. I fear it has become an expectation to the point of getting in the way to being creative to try and have success.
As an aside, I was a 9 year old at game 7 of the 87 World Series. Still my most memorable experience of joy in Minneapolis. I vividly remember high fiving every stranger I saw walking downtown after the game. No one can take that or 91 away from Minnesota sports.

Re: what's the most disappointing ....
My buddy leaned over to me as Gary Anderson lined up to kick a game-clinching 37-yard field goal.
"I dreamed that Anderson misses a kick and the Vikings miss the Super Bowl."
10 seconds later, Anderson missed his only kick of the season... even though I was still certain they were winning that game at the time.
[Note: Part of the frustration with that game comes from the hard-to-understand inconsistencies from coach Denny Green in that game.]
