Flipping the Switch

Post by Carlos Danger »

I saw the write up in today's Strib in which Flip admits that they are pretty much phoning it in for this year :-).

http://www.startribune.com/sports/wolves/285309441.html

Sounds like most the injured guys won't be back until almost Feb. (many of us knew Rubio wasn't coming back for X-mas as originally thrown out there). As stated in the write up, the good news is the young guys will get plenty of run. I wonder who (if anyone) they could possibly move before the trade deadline? I'm thinking Martin/Thad Young and probably Brewer would be the most likely as they have some value. As stated in the write up, Pek's not going anywhere due to his injuries/contract and the rest of the guys really don't have value (Bud/Hummel/Turiaf etc.). Anyway - an interesting/honest read if you didn't have a chance to see yet.

That is fine. Time to start making Wiggins run the offense more. Force him to play SG and bring the ball up the court more. It surely didn't hurt KD to play SG when he was younger.

I like this idea. I have been calling for Wiggins at the 2 and Bazz at the 3 for a few weeks now. Force dribbling development onto Wiggins, fair idea. Could be ugly for a while, not that it hasn't been already.

Can he be worse then Brewer? Maybe, but if we force him now it can only help him down the road. Nothing beat experience and this is the year to give it to him.

I don't think forcing him into dribbling is a good idea. It is something he definitely needs to focus on in workouts, but I think you want to build his confidence. Having Bazz on the floor to take some attention away is a good idea though.

I doubt he would get stripped every possession but it is worth thinking about. On the Flip side I think his best games have been when they kept force feeding him and giving him no other choice but to be aggressive. I could see the same thing happening with him getting regular time at the 2. What I see from him I think most of his faults are simply become everything has come so easy to him up until now. His athleticism alone was enough to get him where he needed to be on the court. It is a good lesson he is learning now and I suspect that he will rise to the occasion. But him and Bazz together has been what I have been waiting for simply because they have the opportunity to be very disruptive together.
