My question is how can we move Barea, Shved, Budinger etc etc to make this roster filled out? Who are we going to have to sacrifice and...can we keep guys like Pek, Martin, Brewer to do so? Because IMO, Williams, Martin, Brewer, Pek and Turiaf are all very important assets and very important at there contract levels.

Where have you been, Slim?

While not as clear as the Love trade, the common thinking is Barea, Luc and the 1st round pick from the Love trade will go to Philly in exchange for Young, who will be our starting PF. I'm still doubtful GR3 will be signed this year, unless Shabazz is traded...

Why would Muhammad need to be traded in order to sign Robinson III? That makes zero sense. From everything I've read, including what Lip has posted, Flip loves Shabazz. All that would really need to be done to sign Robinson III, assuming Barea + Mbah a Moute for Young happens, is trade or buy out Shved.

Rubio / Williams
Martin / Brewer / LaVine
Wiggins / Budinger / Muhammad
Young / Bennett / Hummel
Pekovic / Dieng / Turiaf

Shved's the odd guy out. Wolves sign Robinson III.

You don't really believe Flip would go into the season with Rubio and Williams as his only PGs, do you?

The other possibility is he pays to have someone take Bud. But I don't think that will happen.

And just to be clear, I don't think Shabazz will be traded, and thus I don't think GR3 will be on the roster this season...

He did just draft a combo guard this year whose natural position is point guard... How many guys do you want riding the bench?

I don't see Budinger being moved either.

So Flip drafted a guy who he thought was a clear first round talent only to not find a way to get him on the team? OK. I don't see Flip being that wasteful.

Tim I think its pretty clear Flip would be willing to give LaVine minutes at PG off the bench if needed and he clearly looked better than Shved in just about any way you can think of. I think Flip is realistic on how the rookies are going to perform but he isn't going to just leave them on the bench either he is gonna find time to get them on the floor. To sign GR3 all Flip has to do is dump 2 of those expirings one way or another. Its really not that difficult they could waive them all they would be doing is paying GR3's salary which I am sure Glenn would have no problem doing considering he is a young player his basketball guys are high on.

Most people argue that Bud, Brewer, Wiggins, Shabazz and Hummel are basically 3s that can play some other spots. Dump Shved and sign GR3 adds yet another one and leaves us with only 4 guards - Rubio, Williams, Martin and LaVine.

You guys could be right and Flip goes that route. Me? I don't see Flip willing to go into the season with only 4 natural guards.

Excellent point, Tim. It's a tough call because Flip has to love his GR3 pick, but he just adds to an already unbalanced roster. Flip has to unload a couple SF's before Robinson makes the team.

Brewer's statistics show that he's better as a SG, both on offense and defense. Hummel's a stretch PF; if he's playing SF, it's because of injuries. Position versatility doesn't mean a whole lot, though, when you're talking about end of the bench guys. GRIII holds more value than Shved does, not to mention he's much cheaper.

So you think Flip wastes a young asset (GRIII) for a player (Shved) that has already shown that he's not a good NBA player just so Flip can have a guy who can dribble the ball at the end of the bench? Sorry, Tim, but I don't see it.

It's like saying AJ Price deserves a roster spot over Shabazz Muhammad.

You can say you told me so when it happens. I have a hard time seeing Flip go with so few natural Gs, let alone so many young, inexperienced players. In my mind, it's Shabazz or GR3, not both. Either Shabazz is moved, or Flip hangs onto GR3's rights for another year.

And for the record, I am still not impressed with Shabazz, and would have no problem moving him in order to sign GR3...

Tim and Cam both make some compelling points. I agree with Cam that GR3 certainly has more potential than Lexi. But I agree with Tim that Flip is unlikely to start the season with so few natural guards. Cam is probably right that Corey is a better SG than SF, at least from a defensive standpoint and because of his inability to rebound. But he is such a poor ball handler and long distance shooter that he becomes a liability on offense if he is in the SG position.

Flip has to clear away some of the logjam at SF, and I'm confident that he will. I think some dominoes are going to fall soon after the 23rd.
