I've thought a little bit more about a possible Corey trade, and I'm reluctantly on board with flipping him for a late first rounder. As much as I enjoy Corey's heart, trading him would likely lead to increased minutes for Shabazz, and that would be good. Because my mind set is not "win now", I don't necessarily think we need to add a PG. But I suspect that this is Flip's thought process, and that's why he is considering giving Corey up. He doesn't want to overwork Mo, and he has to recognize Zach has a tendency to get in foul trouble.

I wonder if Flip is considering adding Brady Heslip as our 15th man, since he had a good look at him in SL. Heslip would fill two current needs...PG depth, and 3-point shooting. I mentioned in another thread that he had 11 3-pointers and 40 points in his D-League debut this week, and he also had a 44% 3-point rate in three years at Baylor. He's limited, because he doesn't run an offense very well and likely isn't much of a defender, but Bud and Robbie haven't demonstrated the ability to hit the three, and it might be interesting to have a specialist on the bench.

Brewer for Heslip and whatever BS we get in the trade. Sounds like A Wolves trade to me.

I hate to speculate on this, but the other reason Flip may be looking for another PG is that he suspects Ricky is going to be out much longer than originally thought. When he went down, they said he would have another MRI in a week after the swelling subsided a little and then there would be more information. Well, it's been 9 days and no MRI news, which leads me to believe the swelling is still bad and there could be significant ligament damage. I have been thinking 8 weeks which is a normal time period for a Grade 3 sprain, and maybe Flip isn't comfortable with Mo/Zach for another 7 weeks.

Remember the language he used when he was asked a week ago whether he would be looking for another PG. He very clearly said "Not at this time", which to me meant he needed a week or two to evaluate two things: the extent of Rubio's injury, and Zach's effectiveness. I suspect he may not be happy right now with either variable, and the combination is forcing him to consider adding a PG.

Flip deserves to be ripped if this is just a salary dump. And no they won't get Waiters for Corey Brewer

Good Riddance. Brewer is pointless on this team right now. There are other guys who can turn the ball over off their feet and miss shots badly.

I was thinking Aaron Craft, not Brady Heslip. Yes, Brady can shoot, but from what I recall watching summer league, he was physically overmatched. Craft is the opposite. Offensively he isn't very good, but he was considered one of the best perimeter defenders in college, plus he was probably an even better football player in high school. That dude is tough.

Thats an interesting take Q but I'm wonder if GS has his rights under the D-league since he is playing with their affiliate team. A guy I work with is a Ohio State Basketball guy and huge fan of Craft so I have keep up with him a bit.

Heslip sounds great cause he can shoot the 3 and sure he scored 40 in his first D-league game but the score made that Portland Nuggets game sounds slow just to put it in a little perspective. It seems like there should be some quick PG type that can run an offense decently and D up some from the D-league or something. I'm not opposed to Heslip though but man we could use someone that can play D and create for others. Thats not Heslip for sure.

At this point I will be fine with dealing brewer. I love how he competes the last two games but we have too many wings and outside of wiggins, brew brings the most value in a trade.

I wont mind dealing brew to the cavs for its 1st round pick and trade exception. It gives us another future asset to package in a trade in the future.

Also opens up minutes for lavine and bud. Continue starting lavine in rubio's place and give bud some time as backup sg. Once rubio returns, play 2 of lavine, bud and bazz as your 2 backup wings.

Sound right, Flip likes Shabazz. I would like to see more of him. He needs to play to get better on D
