Thanks for the report Cool. Looks like Smiling Wes had 19 for the Lakers, 4-7 on 3's. :)

Yeah Wes was one reason the Lakers led most of the night. He also had a nice throw down on an alley oop.

And I agree with you guys on Corey. He was a big reason we won last night. As maddening as his corner three has been so far, he's a pro who leaves it on the court every night. Love that guy.

Couldn't have scripted the game better last night. Nothing better than beating the Lakers on their home court, especially considering we have three of our starters out and only one healthy big over 6' 9". Bryant missing that last second shot was AWESOME.

LeVine looked like a young Westbrook out there tonight. Composed, quick, skilled and with that killer mentality. Games like tonight make me believe that LeVine might develop into a better pro than Wiggins. The difference between those two is confidence and self believe. Hopefully Wiggins benefits from tonight and is inspired by LeVines performance.

I have to admit Robbie Hummel has grown on me. Plays hard and always seem to be in the right place at the right time. He's a smart player. As painful as it is to watch him get overwhelmed by opposition bigs, you can't question his effort. He not really a PF let alone a C.

The odd man out in this roster is Chase Budinger. He just isn't playing well enough to deserve the minutes he's getting. Defensively he is one of the worst on this roster, and offensively he is missing too many open jump shots. At this stage I would give all his minute to Bazz.

I have to disagree on Wiggins. When you are facing one of the better offensive players, and the refs have a completely biased view, you really have no chance. The fact that Kobe wasn't able to take over the game speaks volumes about Wiggins maturity at a very young age. Two blatant fouls by Kobe on the defensive end both went uncalled and led to turnovers by Andrew. The second was an absolutely inexcusable no-call. It is On offense, they let Kobe push and elbow at will, not only on Wiggins, but against Brewer as well. There is really nothing you can do at that point other than stay down and watch him shoot open jumpers.

Our biggest issue on defense is more associated with the veterans, who are continually giving up on D anytime they meet any resistance in the form of a screen or pick. Brewer is guilty of this more than anyone else, and it has to do with his preference for leaking out.

Thank goodness Thad got his offense going last night. It's the only thing that can offset his weakness on D and lack of rebounding. This team needs to cut Turiaf and bring in another big that cover at C/PF.

Fair call on Wiggins SJM. Matchups against guys like Bryant are tough for any 19 year old rookie, especially when you are defending the oppositions best wing game in game out. Kobe was pushing off Wiggins all night to get his shot off, but the officials wouldn't dare call an offensive foul against the Black Mamba. It seems that Wiggins is so exhausted defending that he struggles to get his offensive game going.

What I saw was Kobe Owned Wiggins on both ends of the court and Wiggins didn't try and do too much on offense I don't have a problem with that. Plenty of other guys were going off. If you have an off night and other guys are doing well do other stuff make the pass play D. Yeah Wiggins probably looked like Wes tonight but that's ok it was against a Kobe that looked like...Kobe. Not much shame in that as a 19 year old in all honesty.

These last 2 games for Lavine make me say heck give the kid run let's see what he can do. It was just the Bucks and the Lakers but whatever they were nice games.

Defense. Look we were hoping for some good things here but let's be honest most of us knew it was going to be a problem and then we lost Rubio who is a good defensive player and the guy that could maybe make this whacky collection of players work on that end. Now its brutal. Nobody seems to have a clue as what to do when it comes to screens and Dieng is basically the only rim protection playing any minutes. Guys are playing out of position and its a patchwork lineup. I'm not saying the coaching staff gets a free pass here but I'll give them a bit of a break before saying they can't coach D. If this was Thibs...yeah the team would be playing some better D but I'll say that the Wolves do some good things on offense and I think that should be credited to Flip and his staff. Hopefully next year we can add a defensive big one way or another to help. There is some defensive potential for this team but its gonna be rough for a while.

His basket cuts are outstanding and his finishing around the rim is really something when you think about his first stint here. He used to blow wide open fast break layups. His dribble is ugly as ever but is rarely a cause for a TO. He is just a smart player and has very good awareness. I'm glad Flip (says) that he won't trade him. I want him around showing the young guys different things and helping this team hit their stride in the near future.

Agree. I LOVE Corey Brewer. Seriously, my favorite wolf of all time. He's obviously not our best player in history or even right now, but I just love how hard the guy works and how much fun he has while playing the game. LaVine and Wiggins should both be learning how to leak out for fast break buckets like Corey, how to make those basket cuts, and just absorb his overall hustle, effort, and love for the game. Put Brewer's energy into Wiggins right now and the kid would be a star tomorrow. I'd like to see Brewer get a little less playing time to make some room for the young guys, but trading him would be really tough to swallow.

Hard to disagree with you guys on Corey's heart and hustle. I'm not sure there is anyone in the NBA that can go 100 MPH constantly like him.

On the other hand, Flip actually had to pull Corey last night because of two consecutive defensive breakdowns guarding Nick Young, both in the 4th quarter. First, Young drove past Corey for a dunk while Brew stood there like a statue. On the next possession down the floor, he back-doored him for another easy layup.

I love the guy and agree that his work ethic and hustle is a good model for the younger guys, but for every one thing he does well, he does another thing to shoot the team in the foot. That's just Corey.

The play that got me pissed was in the 3rd quarter when Kobe drove baseline and was cutoff by Dieng, who did exactly what he needs to do more of and wall-up, standing tall and strong with his arms held straight up. Kobe goes up for a shot and creates contact with Dieng's arms, which are held up straight as an arrow. Whistle blows.

I actually agree that on balance, Wiggins did a pretty good job against Kobe. He contained him and made him more of a playmaker than a scorer. Good defenders don't just create more misses, they create more passes, meaning their guy has to pass the ball off because they couldn't get a shot off.

Yeah Q but I think in this game overall Brewer played terrific the first 3 quarters and it was a similar thing to what happened in the Bucks game too. I think he actually looked like he might have gotten tired in the Bucks game maybe he did get a little gassed in this one too. He made some dumb plays nearer the end of the game of both and needed to come out. The first half you could have made a case for him being the best player on the floor for either team and Kobe was playing very well and was the best player but Brew was on pace for a triple double. One thing I liked was Brewer passed up some corner 3's and went to the basket. He has had some struggles but overall so far he has been pretty good and he hasn't been able to buy a 3. I know Brewer has his issues but what bench wing doesn't? That's why they are bench players. There are some things he does very well and quite frankly Flip has gotten a lot out of him this year.
