When I watch guys like Bud pretend to play D and can't do a think offensively, I have to wonder what Flip is seeing that he doesn't give GR3 a shot. He can at least play defense, which puts him ahead of bud and Robbie. How many and 1's did Robbie give up without having any chance of stopping the shot?
Why isn't Shabazz getting at least 25 minutes? Why didn't Bennett play more?
I agree Tim, that Gorgi doesn't look like he is showing any improvement at all. I think we need to accept at this point that he will likely never be an above average starter. It is unlikley he gets any bigger at this point, and just doesnt' understand how body up his man. It is pretty pathetic when you need help to cover Sanders.
I will make sure to bypass the next game against Mil so I don't have to listen to JimPete make an ass out of himself trying to analyze Parker and Wiggins. AW might be a little better of an athlete??? Really, just a little?????
AW might have played his worst game offensively. He pressed way too hard, and they just packed it in on him, but it was nice to see him stay active and focused on the defensive end.
Brewer has got to make more of an effort when he loses his man. He completely stops playing D at that point, and it leads to way too many easy buckets inside when he does it.
Flip has got to be more aware of who is performing on a nightly basis if he expects to win any games. Right now 20 games is looking unlikely. Is anyone else surprised that Ricky has been out for two weeks and the shooting coach just set him up with instruction on working on his release? Some things just never change.
No Go Mo - Wolves vs Bucks GDT
Re: No Go Mo - Wolves vs Bucks GDT
SJM I think Peterson is talking about more of a total package of athletic ability that running fast and jumping high. Parker has some things like a body for contact and more undercontrol fluidity than Wiggins. Yes Wiggins is a freak athlete, but I think part of what Pete is saying is that Parker is no slouch and he has some things in his game that alot of guys don't. I think Pete gets annoyed hearing about how Wiggins is such a great athlete that it makes Parker sounds like a ground bound doughboy. Thats how I see what he is saying.
Re: No Go Mo - Wolves vs Bucks GDT
Monster I could see that happening, but shouldn't he be that much more aware of doing the same thing. The simple truth is that Wiggins is a 2 or 3, while Parker is a 3 or 4 in the NBA. Parker doesn't have great size like Pete stated last night, but does have a good handle for his position. He looks like he has a good mid range game, but Young was able to guard him one on one easily last night. Parker's points came from defensive breakdowns that left him open. He wasn't creating his offense. Parkers body for contact makes sense if he is playing the 3, but he is undersized as a 4, which is more likely where his skillset fits without a 3pt shot.
I am really surprised that it looks like Wiggins is the more aggressive player. I have heard several on this board in the past protect Love's defensive limitations with the premise that a guy with that much offense has to pick his spots energy wise on the defensive end. Shouldn't we be giving Wiggins the pass on offense due to him guarding the best offensive player on most nights?
The experts state that Parker is more aggressive, more polished, but yet AW scores more points with the same efficiency, and in a more complete way in the same minutes. There is no question that AW is the better defender, so I am not sure why anyone would pick Parker over AW.

I am curious if AB and Parker matched up much and how those match looked. It is tough to compare AW and Parker since they are both so different.

"Shouldn't we be giving Wiggins the pass on offense due to him guarding the best offensive player on most nights?"
No, and the reason why is simple. Wiggins is supposed to be an All-Star, Superstar type player in the future. Those guys have to bring it on offense all the time. Star players are capable of/responsible for shouldering the load offensively, defensive focus aside. James Harden, Kevin Love, Carmelo Anthony, LaMarcus Aldridge, Steph Curry, etc. All of these guys are weak defensively, but are franchise guys because they can put the ball in the hole and set up teammates with scoring opportunities.
They're have been plenty of excellent defenders who are good--but not great-- offensively. Those players have long careers, but very rarely are they franchise guys. Occasional All-Stars at best.
I think a lot of people on this board, and in real life, are expecting/hoping that Wiggins can bring this franchise back to success (with some help, of course). If he's going to do that, he needs to be a consistent threat on offense, and in the future, a guy that gets a touch on offense almost every possession. No more of him standing around on offense ball-watching.

I'll have to remember this next time the word star is used in reference to Rubio

Wiggins is outscoring Parker and doing it with more offensive versatility. His physical makeup also grants him a lot more room for growth than Parker. He's going to be able to bring it on both sides of the ball. I don't see how watching them both up to this point still makes anyone think Parker is going to be the better overall player. Wiggins has been better on both sides of the ball and he was only supposed to be better defensively at this point.

Not sure where Parker was mentioned in my post replying to "giving Wiggins a pass on offense". Didn't use his name once...
But until Wiggins handle improves, Parker's going to be the more skilled scorer between the two. Over the long haul, it's a pretty good bet to say that Parker scores more than Wiggins. He's more active on offense, has better scoring instincts and a better handle. Wiggins being a terrific athlete alone doesn't mean that he can put the ball in the hole better than Parker, though Wiggins jumper has been better than expected. And we're what, 15 games into the season? Think we should continue to revisit this one in January.
Re: No Go Mo - Wolves vs Bucks GDT
Wiggins is a far better shooter than Parker so far. Parker basically only a better inside scorer at this point and only because Wiggins is not forcing himself to drive more. Hardly a surefire comment in any way to expect Parker to be a more skilled scorer when shooting is an essential skill in scoring. It is only 15 games but their offensive efficiency is basically dead even at this point. Parker shoots a higher volume inside at a higher %, but everywhere else he sucks. Wiggins scores from everywhere. If Wiggins really wants to bump it up he will just drive more, but the numbers show he can finish anywhere on the court. If Wiggins took the ball to the hoop 4 more times a game at his current finishing rate his scoring efficiency would blow Parker out of the water. I have an easier time seeing Wiggins learn to get to the hoop more than seeing Parker learn to shoot outside of 2 feet.
