I feel like I need to damper the mood a bit...

Two players the Wolves could of drafted

Steph Curry:

26 points-7 assists-6.5 rebounds! Leading the league in steals and looks like a whole different defensive player. Warriors undefeated

Boogie Cousins

Just went for 30-11 in 22 minutes somehow. Kings are 4-1

Instead the Wolves drafted

Wes Johnson

8 points a game on 40% shooting. Still can't dribble. Still sucks at defense. Still smiling.

Johnny Flynn

MIA. Pretty sure I saw him on the side of a milk carton. Please call the authorities if you've seen him, his family is worried

Steph was obviously the biggest blunder of the kahn era. Nothing we can do about that now, shame on you for bringing this up again. :P

I always enjoy a good "rip Kahn" session, and his Flynn pick was a colossal fail. But I need to confess that I wasn't on the Curry bandwagon either...I never thought his small college success would translate into NBA success. Man, was I wrong.

As for the other draft, yeah...Wes turned out to be a terrible pick. But again, I never wanted Cousins. I think I have stated my position clearly on this board that there are certain players that I could never cheer for (fortunately a very small group) and Cousins is on that list...just don't like the guy. Yes, Sac-town (and especially Cousins) has been terrific this year, but I am certain they will come back to earth. In hindsight, my 2010 pick would be Paul George followed by Hayward, although I wasn't advocating for either of them at the time...my recollection is I was holding my nose, lamenting our draft position and saying "take Wes". Whoops.

I didn't love the Zach LaVine pick this year either, so let's hope my inability to select the right player continues! So far, I'm intrigued by the potential.

There was a "third way" with the Cousins situation and one I advocated for at the time. They should have picked Cousins and then traded out of the spot. He was clearly the most talented player available when we picked. We could have picked him, then traded him down for a lower pick + an additional asset. Now that lower pick may have still ended up being Wes Johnson, but still, it was a reach taking him where we did with Cousins still on the board.

Kahn wasn't alone in his draft ineptitude, although the sheer volume of picks he missed on is fairly staggering (don't forget all the non-lotto picks Kahn had too). It's a problem that has plagued the franchise since its beginnings and transcended multiple regimes.

The jury is still out on Flip, although just the fact Dieng and Shabazz are getting regular minutes as second year pros suggests that his first draft was solid and could eventually be considered a resounding success, especially if 'Bazz develops into a more consistent weapon off the bench.

You mean to tell me drafting a 23-year-old who had NEVER averaged more than 16 ppg at any level after hitting puberty was a bad move?

Somebody should have mentioned that years ago!

Isn't there an old thread we could have bumped for this one? It hardly dampens my mood to look at their success. I love this team as it stands right now. The downs are going to make this even sweeter.

This is the Flip era. So far, so good. That's all I'm looking for right now.

Kind of a dumb thread considering all of the mistakes are now gone and have been replaced with arguably the most potential in the NBA.

mood=not dampened

Who wants to bury the David Kahn hatchet forever and move forward?
