CoolBreeze's 2 Things I Didn't Like Tonight Plus 1
I shouldn't write this while I'm so angry, but here goes:
1) The way I feel right now it could be 10 things I didn't like plus 1. In fact I'm just going to list them:
- Didn't like Aaron Gordon in college and can't stand him now
- Gave up way too many open jump shots in the first half
- Mo was so frustrating tonight. If you're going to take jump shots early in the shot clock with no one underneath, you sure as hell better make them.
- Why does Andrew Wiggins just stand on the wing on 75% of our possessions?
- We had about a dozen chances to extend our lead to 5 points and never did it once.
- Was Elfrid Payton wearing a hat?
- If K-Mart is our best option for a last second shot, don't count on winning too many buzzer beaters
- We win this game rather easily if Rubio doesn't get hurt
- We have too many guys that didn't play enough minutes. Bennett, Bazz, Wiggins - But what are you going to do? You can't have an 11 man rotation and get everyone enough time.
- We have to attack the basket more from the point and the wing. Could have lived at the line tonight.
Plus 1 - There I feel a little better. But it's hard to pick something I really liked tonight. Corey played the type of game we need from him. Pek wasn't terrible. I guess the only thing I'm really hanging my hat on is the way Ricky played before going out. Unfortunately we won't be seeing that for a while. At least Zach will get some minutes.
And that's CoolBreeze's 2 things I didn't like tonight + 1

You blew it, cool. Dieng was your plus 1...

Uuugghhh! We should have known there would be nights like this. That late turnover by Martin gave me flashbacks to the Clippers game early last year where Chris Paul stripped him and scored in one of the many close games we should have won.
Here is the difference between Aaron Gordon and Andrew Wiggins right now: One plays with confidence and swagger; the other doesn't. Gordon absolutely shut down Young when he was guarding him late in the game and then forced the issue on the other end too. He was a major factor in this game. Wiggly may end up being the better player in the long run, but not tonight.
The good news is that I thought LaVine wasn't half-bad in his stint at PG tonight.

Dieng was terrific, and here's another plus one...we had a chance to beat a team on their court with a buzzer beater, with our best player out for half the game. I don't feel too bad about that.

Disaster scenario tonight. Martin went Clippers game last year part II. Rubio is the one guy we can't afford to lose.
Not much more to say other than this: fuck.

Yeah, Zach did just fine. That's one thing I'm anxious to watch!
On Young, I was really disappointed with the number of wide open jumpers he passed up. His perimeter shooting has been huge in all the game we've played this season, and for the most part he just passed them up tonight.

Tim, Young missed about 4 or 5 outside shots. In fact, he missed all of his outside shots except for the one 3-pointer. Mo, Young, and Martin were all ice cold from outside tonight. That's where we need to play better defense. Tonight was a similar story to last season. We created a bunch of turnovers, but when they took care of the basketball, they generally could get whatever they wanted in half court sets.

Bahhhh! That's a game we should have won. It really shows the "Rubio effect". He sets the tone on offense and defense because he plays hard both ways. It seemed like everyone was just friggin' standing around on offense. Pass in, pass back out, then take a terrible long shot. Where's the young athletic guys running the floor for easy transition buckets?
On defense, they seems to let them score on every possession - especially at the end of the game. I'd have to rewatch to see if that was luck or poor defense....probably a little of both. Just frusterating to watch them lose a close game they had in the bag. Hopefully Rubio isn't out for too long. I just don't see them playing well without him.

"Coach let me rock so I rocked." - Aaron Gordon with a shitty grin on his face. Shut up, douchebag.
