KG wants to buy the Wolves
KG wants to buy the Wolves
Thursday after the game he stated he wanted to put a group together to buy the team. The Nets GM commented on it as well. Must be something to it.

That'd be cool with me. I still love KG and would want him associated with the Wolves again. I didn't read the article, but I'm assuming he'd be trying to be controlling owner?

Same and that's what it sounds like to me in terms of being controlling owner.

Kevin Granett Has made 315 Million over his career.
His Net Worth: 140-180 million according to Forbes and others in 2014.
Timberwolves valued at $430 million before Wiggins and this team. You have to assume that number at least doubles if on the open market.
The numbers don't add up so he would definitely have to be a minority owner along with flip.
It is just a dream of his and IDK if Glenn will sell the team chances of him being a majority owner which can happening if there is a group of like 50 people that buy the team 15%
Chances of him owning less than five percent of the team. 60%

KG spending his money into a business where the guy he hates most in this world has the final say on everything?
Yea I'm sure he'd love that
Yea I'm sure he'd love that
Re: KG wants to buy the Wolves
This is interesting I've always kind of assumed KG still felt like Minny was where a big part of his heart still was and Glen has talked about a minority owner with an option to buy. Honestly I think KG and Glen could patch things up especially if Glen was the guy that basically gave KG a shot at owning the franchise. The fact that Flip is back makes a big difference.

I would hate it, but I suppose it's inevitable it happens some day. Can't stand the guy as a human being, and to me that carries a lot of weight. I'm not into the hero worship thing and being blinded by a guy's faults.

Brandon, KG could easily swing a deal like this. He would likely lay down $100 million or so out of his own net worth, get some of his buddies to cough up an additional $50 million or so, and then finance the rest through a bank. With KG's net worth, a deal like this would be very bankable.
I hope it doesn't happen. KG is an odd guy, and not a very nice guy. He always played favorites when he was here, and forced the Wolves into some bad deals. T-Hud, for instance. I want my owner to be as uninvolved in the operations of the team as possible, and I don't see KG as someone who could stay in the background. He was a great competitor in the court, but I wouldn't trust his judgment in terms of personnel moves.
I think this story has some credibility to it, and it worries me.

I don't disagree with your take because you bring up some very valid points but I think KG as an owner is likely just as much of a crapshoot wildcard as about anyone taking over ownership of a frachise. Name a owner that is or has taken over ownership of a team you KNOW they are gonna be great owners. Including as you mention be involved just enough or stay out of things enough, hire the right people etc etc.
I remember when Red McCombs owned the Vikings and everything was great for a while then he got stupidly cheap and we found out later just how terrible he was running things and walked out with a bunch of money and everything for facilities offices etc was shoddy when he left. Just one example of an owner with mixed success that also seems like he was actually a scumbag.
KG being an owner would be really interesting. I'll say this KG if he was an owner may be involved about basketball decisions but he isn't a spotlight guy really. I think that would limit him from being too hands on. He is KG so he will get interviewed etc but yeah. KG wouldn't move the team that's for sure.

Who puts down 75% of their net worth into any investment?
