$55M is way to much for a bum who can't stay in the game with a wittle twisted footsie.

I'd call that bad shooting - not bad offense. While I don't think anyone would argue with you that Rubio has historically not been a great shooter, he does many, many other things really well. Last year he was top 5 in qualified PG for Rebounds, steals, Assists and Assist to Turnover. Then there are the intangibles...like Flip stating when Rubio left the game it was like letting the air out of a balloon. He brings a competitive fire that this team really needs.

so then we can't call Love a bad defender then because he's one of the best rebounders in the NBA which is a part of defense

And yet David Blatt took Love out of the game for defensive purposes in the final seconds against Utah. When Ricky comes back, I don't envision Flip benching him for offensive purposes in the final seconds of a close game.

Yes he did.

But I thought we weren't going to rip Adelman anymore...oh wait, that was Kahn we agreed not to rip.

And we lost a record number of <4 point games. Regardless of Ricky's shooting woes last year, Adelman cost the Wolves several games by going with JJ in the end game crunch situations over Rubio.

incorrect. Adelman was damned either way. When your playing 4 on 5, it's a pretty big disadvantage. 18% from the field in the 4th quarter. It does get worse though. He shot 12.5% in clutch situations (teams within 5 and in 5 minutes of less of the end of the game). I'll repeat that again, 12.5%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry but there isn't anything else in your game that can make up for that stat

I am coming up with different #'s than yours (27% in the 4th and 25% in " 4th quarter clutch" for last season). Either way it's still not great. But the good news is he continues to work hard at improving. Here's his age and FG% since coming into the NBA:

Age 21 - 35.7%
Age 22 - 36.0%
Age 23 - 38.1%
Age 24 - 42.6%

Obviously this year is still a small sample. But we all heard he's hard working and the data indicates a consistent upward trend. Oh, and so far this year his "Clutch FG%" is 44.4%. It really sucks that he's going to miss a chunk of time. We win last night's game with Rubio.

82games.com is a great site for clutch stats, which they define as last 5 minutes of the game and neither team ahead by more than 5. Here are the clutch stats for last season

There's good and bad news for Rubio last year: The bad news is that he shot only 29% in the clutch...not very good, but a lot better than the 12.5% Alex was citing (alex, pls provide a link so we can see what the discrepancy is). But the good news is that he averaged 9.9 assists per 48 minutes in the clutch, which was the 4th highest clutch assist rate in the league. Distributing is Ricky's strength, and it's good to see he is elite in this area at crunchtime too. Combine that with his 44.4% clutch shooting this year, and that adds up to a guy who is a very good offensive player at the end of close games. And yet somehow Adelman preferred Barea at the end of games  .

Thanks for the link LST. I used NBA.com for mine and I suspect that's what Alex was using as well:
http://stats.nba.com/league/player/#!/clutch/?Season=2013-14&Period=4

The variance has to be a filter setting. As an example, Alex & I were quoting specifically 4th quarter clutch and it looks like your link includes OT. But there still must be something off between my filter and what he did.

On a side note, I personally don't put too much stock into "clutch" statistics. While they can be amusing, more often than not, it's just a small sample which should be considered with a grain of salt. It's like saying "Rubio shoots 90% during a lunar eclipse!". And no, I don't have a link to back that up! At the end of the day, the more data/bigger sample size, the more reliable. In this case, I would expect Rubio's "clutch percentage" to eventually move to his overall FG% with more data.
