It's a chance for him, that's for sure. I must caution everyone though because playing with LaVine at PG vs. Ricky may not give us a true picture of these players (that applies to everyone). I think a healthy Pek and a healthy Rubio were pretty good together.

But then that brings me to Turiaf...what's his story? Knowing Pek is going to be hobbled probably all year, we need another big man that can stay healthy. I hope Ronny can be that guy...but he's barely played the last couple years and still gets hurt! If he can't show he can contribute soon, I wonder if there will be a series of moves. Dieng still can get into foul trouble too often, so you can't always depend on him to log big minutes yet.

That is a great point about Turiaf. That with having midget PF's we really lack size. That is why I was for letting both GR3 and Hummel got for a PF/C type. Not sure who is in the D-League that would be a good body for us.

It sounded like on Twitter Turiaf won't be able to play at least Wednesday. One reason Turiaf hasn't got a bigger contract is he can't stay healthy which is too bad cause he is a worthwhile player. Dieng is gonna play plenty and we are gonna see some undersized lineups probably Hummel at C and a wing at PF. If the Wolves can keep from losing by 30 that might be a success. Man its gonna be a tough 3 games.

Well at least JJ Barea won't be seeing minutes at center for us this year.

The way he has been playing, Dieng/Turiaf will not be a step down. But since Thad is out until Sunday, I feel bad for Flip coaching the next two games with three starters out...especially since the other 2 starters are a 19-year-od rookie and a vet that you don't know whether he's going to show up night to night.

I think this is going to be Pek's Wally Pipp moment. I look for Dieng to seize this opportunity and be the starting center going forward, even when Pek comes back.

Why is Young out until Sunday?

His mom died unexpectedly. He's currently away from the team.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd like a center with a higher ceiling than both Dieng and Pekovic, which leads me to this point...

This year's draft has some high potential bigs. We're a young, developing team. It's weird how center's a position of strength preseason, but it's actually our position without a high potential prospect, that is if you still believe in Bennett. Rubio, LaVine and Wiggins are high ceiling guys. Bennett has the physical tools to be in that group too. Does Dieng scream star player or really solid player to you?

What do we do with Pekovic? Is anyone interested in him and his contract? Actually, contract aside, what team needs a low post presence who already has a rim protecting big that can also space the floor? There's very few teams that fit that criteria. The Heat, Thunder, Bucks and Hawks (kinda) are teams that come to mind.

I don't know what Flip can do now.

His mom passed last week. I don't know of anyone that takes a week and a half off from work. Not trying to be insensitive, but usually keeping busy seems to help at a time like that.

Here's what it's gonna come down to down the line:

Dieng better produce, because as it looks right now, we may not get much back for Pek if and when he's on the market

Agree Wildwolf. They may just ride it out with Pek and put him into a bench instant offense role in a bid to extend his career. No one is going to trade for damaged goods.

I can see both sides of this argument, sjm. In this case, though, the funeral isn't until Friday, so he was going to miss the Spurs game that day anyway. Let's hope he is back for the Kings on Sunday.
