Not Mo's fault that he looked like JJ

Post by Papalrep »

I caught a little of Flip on Barreiro. He was asked about the second unit, and all the shots Mo took, and responded imediately. "That's not Mo's fault" said Flip. Guys were not setting picks, not running the plays, and basically left Mo standing there with the ball. Thus, young guys got the hook. Tough love will continue, this is part of development.

I keep saying it during the game and after, you cant blame mo for playing iso ball last night. He has no choice since he is the only guy that can dribble, pass and shoot on the 2nd unit. The nets were packing the paint and defending the drives off our pick and rolls. They were willing to let brew and bazz take jumpers.

Brew and bazz on the wings is not a good fit with mo. Neither can handle the ball, pass or shoot well. Mo basically has to handle the ball the entire time and make something happen. Last night, his shot was off and outside of two or three ill advised shots, those were shots he normally takes. It just seems worse because it wasnt falling and there were little ball movement. But with no one else to handle the ball and make plays, we were limited. Ab and dieng are not ready to have the offense gontrunthem yet in the post or high post. we need another playmaker or shooter out there. Bud and lavine's skills would have been ideal with the 2nd unit but they have not earned playing time.

This is where having a big man that can pass would be helpful. I would like to see us run a bit more action off of Dieng and Bennett in high post sets. Both have shown some potential of finding the open man. It would also take the ball out of Mo's hands and allow him to play a little bit off the ball.
