Now that I am a Minnesota resident again, I can watch the post-game coverage (League Pass cuts out right after the game is over). I found Flip's post-game interview very interesting. Some observations:
1) He looked more like a coach of the winning team than the losing team. I get it...I felt the same way. Flip was definitely pleased with the way his guys played.
2) He singled out Shabazz and said he was "phenomenal". Then, he pointed out something I didn't notice during the game. The Griz were so concerned with Bazz on the offensive boards, that they put ZBo on him for awhile. Respect.
3) The most interesting part of Flip's interview, because it sounded like his first shot at Adelman: "Shabazz only played 72 minutes last year" Shabazz actually played 290 minutes last year, so Flip's exaggeration to me reflected his disgust with Adelman's refusal to play Muhammad.
I'm really happy having Flip coaching this year...it could mean 8-10 more wins this year.

He should be pleased, Memphis is a terrible matchup for us and we almost won in their building even with Pek getting absolutely destroyed

Re: Flip's post-game interview
I wouldn't discount another reason for his happiness...
- The team played well enough to give the fans hope for the future... but still lost... which is good for the team's future.
After all, isn't that the goal for this season? In that sense, it was a win-win last night.

I saw that during the game and was trying to understand it. He was posting up Carter at will and when they put Z-Bo on him he hit the corner 3. If he can hit that 3 at a decent clip he is really going to be tough to defend. Hard to match the energy he brings and then wings are just not physical enough. It is good for Wiggins to have to practice with him.
After this game I am thinking we can certainly live without Martin and Budinger. It would be great to package them up for an expiring big and a future 1st.

I'll just say this wouldn't Martin have been nice to have tonight? All he would have had to do is guard Tony Allen. Sure Bazz wouldn't have played as many minutes if Martin was playing so it worked out fine although Martin in the starting lineup instead of Brew at the beginning of the game would have been pretty handy. Let's be honest Bazz hasn't been the picture of health since coming out of HS. There is a good chance he misses at least 10 games this year. imo Love how he plays the game like he is some d-league callup trying to make the team. The guy plays his butt off and with the new body he has it looks like he might actually be able to compete much better at this level. It will be interesting to see him defensively against some more legit scorers than what Memphis has.
