Seems Ricky turned down $43m...

Post by Hicks123 [enjin:6700838] »

I don't have ESPN Insider anymore, but there is a caption saying he turned down $43M. I have to guess that was 4 years....maybe 5? I can't see the whole article.

Well, we had a couple days of good vibes and hope before the next black cloud started rolling in.

I guess we shouldn't be too surprised at this, but wouldn't it have been nicer after the consummation of the successful trade to see this headline: Rubio Accepts 5-year Extension.

I kind of forgot for a moment that I'm a Wolves fan, and we're not allowed to have nice things...

I don't want Ricky getting 5 years, because that means he gets the max salary and increases. A 4 year deal around that 43 seems realistic to me. I realize we can probably overpay a bit since we have our expected core on mostly rookie deals for the next 3-4 years, and hopefully they do away with the limit on 5 year extensions for rookies so we can lock guys up longer and not always for the max.

Unless Ricky tells his reps to just get a deal done it seems like the sides are gonna be far apart. I can't blame them for not being willing to take a deal like that. At this point I would assume both sides say let's wait till next year see where we are at and plan to make a deal. Of course it could all go wrong but well its possible it all goes right too. Trying to stay positive! :)

If that's what he wants to do, then let him. I love rooting for Ricky, and I would love to keep him, but if he leaves, it's not the end of the world. We could easily take Tyus Jones or someone like that next draft. Point guards are everywhere. I don't mean to downplay Rubio's game, but it's the deepest position in basketball for a reason.

I'm not buying it. For Ricky to play this season w/o an extension is a bit of a risk. Signing the QO next summer and playing another season without his future locked down doesn't really make much sense.

Henry Lake in town at the fair. He wanted us to keep Trey Burke, saying imagine him with this lineup we have now. Henry thinks Ricky is leaving. Would Ricky sign a Pek-ish 5 yr 12 million dollar deal?
