Just phenomenal news. JJ just not a good fit here any longer.

Ok, well I guess that answers that. I think he got kind of a bad rap here. Yeah, he could've played more in the system and hit more shots, but he's the classic sparkplug off the bench for a playoff team. Sadly, we just weren't good enough to ever relegate him to that limited role. My guess is he'll go back to the Mavs and that team will be good this year, so he'll have a solid role off the bench to play on a playoff team.

Still, makes sense for us. We don't really need another veteran guard, especially now that we've essentially replaced him with Mo. Could clear up some minutes at the guard spots and avoid having an unhappy vet sitting on the bench. Make way for the youth movement.

It's really too bad Flip wasn't able to pull off a trade of some sort to bring back some value, but oh well, I'm sure he tried his best.

I guess that renders the Hummel vs. GR3 debate moot......again (which I thought was dead when GR3 was signed weeks ago). Both are "they won't hurt you" players that play within themselves and are still young enough to improve.

The big concern here is a lack of depth at PG. And while I think ultimately LaVine is not cut out to be a PG, I guess it doesn't hurt for him to develop some PG skills early in his career, as obviously a 2-guard that can make plays off the bounce is pretty valuable.

I'm surprised but not disappointed. I didn't think they would cut him knowing they would still need to pay him. Plus, I think the guy can serve a role. But with Mo Williams here, that role was going to be smaller, so....meh. I'm ok with it. Let's start the real games already so we can see what these guys look like!

Good we can keep GR3, but that guy needs some minutes in the D League. Could be a contributor in the future, but we're still pretty stacked on the wing.

One last item of business: Rubio's extension. They have until Friday, but it sure would be great if we began the season on Wednesday with it all wrapped up!

I don't know what Flip's plans are for GR3's development. We don't have a D-League affiliate, so Flip might prefer to keep GR3 in Minny so he can practice with the team. I suspect he'll just get garbage time minutes early on and if there is an injury to one of our rotational wings, he might get a chance for some more minutes. If he impresses in practice, he might occasionally get some extended minutes.
