Ricky Rubio, Minnesota making progress in talks on a four-year extension, league sources tell Yahoo. There's optimism, but no deal.

The contract inflation is kind of staggering.

The Jazz are going to be paying Burks 10 mil per, Favors 12 mil per, and Hayward 15.5 mil per for the next 4 years! Does anyone actually think that core along with Exum and Trey Burke is really going to be THAT good? Not to mention that Kanter has to be extended.

The best thing they have going for themselves is that they are all young and they have their core together for a while, but the bad side of that is when they finally reach the peak of their abilities they will all have to be extended again.

Add the fact that they let Al Jefferson and Paul Milsap walk in free agency. I mean if they were going to be banking on Favors/Kanter/Gobert they should at least traded their incumbent bigs for something!

Exum/Burke
Burks/ Future Pick
Hayward/ Rodney Hood
Favor/ Future Pick
Kanter/ Gobert

Those are some nice players (I'm a big fan of Burks scoring) but the Jazz are really gambling that these guys are going to turn into a playoff team by spending so much on players that really haven't proven they can carry a team. I would have let Hayward walk the second Jordan and the Hornets offered him that ridiculous contract and felt fine about it. They are paying Hayward more then we will be paying either Ricky or Pek and I would much rather have either of those guys than him.

But then again what are the Utah Jazz going to do? Get a guy like Durant to come to Utah? It sucks being a small market team :(

Sorry for the Jazz rant

Rubio and Wolves are not very far apart at all. Sometimes the last couple yards are toughest to gain

Come on! I want this thing done

Is Mike Conley a good comparison?

Hoopshype has him signed next two years at between 9 and 10. He probably would hold out for more if signing today. Always liked him.

Hoopshype:
Very quick and smart... Can get to the basket... Great ballhandler... A true point guard... Must get a consistent jump shot... Needs to play with more confidence.

I don't think Ricky lacks confidence, but they are at about the same level. Conley's a 10 M a year guy
