Opening night- Wolves/Griz GDT
Re: Opening night- Wolves/Griz GDT
We have a massive problem with our starting front court defensively. I have never seen an opposition front court put up numbers like that before. Combing for 57 points on 24 from 33 shots.

I don't think Bazz had this in him last year. Besides, I think you should thank Adelman for lighting a fire in him, he busted his azz this summer to put himself in position to play!
That's a fair point, sp. As angry as I was with Adelman last year, Bazz was primarily just a scorer and offensive rebounder last year. Tonight, he was a basketball player. He hit the defensive boards, passed the rock, and played solid defense. And he scored too.

Great performance by the Wolves. Gasol and Randolph were on tonight. They both played at all star levels and we didn't have anyone who could match up defensively.
A lot of guys contributed and the ones who had bad games are the ones I'm not that worried about (Rubio and Pek). Game ball goes to Bazz for me. I love how he crashes the glass and how hard he plays. And he also had a few nice passes and played pretty good defense. Couple nice jump shots as well.

When Martin returns, I assume that means no Bud and less Brewer.
Flip will be able to look at this game and make adjustments.
Need to continue this solid performance into a win tomorrow night.

Fun game to watch.
Too bad Pek didn't show up and got abused on defense.
Wiggins did not have a memorable debut, Allen was a tough match up for him but it would have been nice to see him attack a little more.
AB and Bazz might be my two favorite players on the team right now, Bazz just plays with so much energy and I'm really rooting for AB after last year.
Thad had a nice game on offense but his defense and rebounding was pretty bad.
Mo Williams kept us in that game and if we had won I would have given him all the credit.
Rubio was doing Rubio things. Some great moments some hair pulling, yelling out, having my girlfriend and cat look at me like I'm insane moments. BTW the foul on Carter was a foul, Rubio flopped.
Can't wait for tomorrow!

I think the motor was there last year. He clearly has developed some more polish. But even last year he was disruptive. There was no reason he shouldn't have gotten a shot on our 2nd unit last year.

Yup, I love Thad, but he his ideal role is as a super-sub off the bench. Him and Pek are even more hamstrung than Love and Pek against bigger, physical lineups. It's just a reality we will be facing until hopefully Bennett develops into a starting-caliber PF.
Re: Opening night- Wolves/Griz GDT
Gasol and randolph owned us tonight. Pek was horrible. Thad had a great game offensively but zbo is just too big and strong, a bad matchup for him defensively.
Rubio continuied to show a consistent and improved jumper but 7 to's was a big negative to us. His handle was uncharacteristically shakey tonight.
Mo was big. He and thad are legit vets that are to stand up for the team every game., We need guys like that.
AB had a big throwdown to tie the game in the 4th. But he needs to balance his jumpers and cutting and slashing to the rim. He settled for too many jumpers tonight when it wasn't falling for him.
Dieng played with a lot of energy. Dont know if he could have done a better job on gasol than pek one on one but he played very good team defense tonight.
Wiggins was very quiet, passive and look like a rookie in his 1st game tonight. He has to be more aggressive going forward.
Bud was a disappointment after a good pre season. He might have played himself to a dnp-cd next game if martin suits up.
Bazz was a surprised and impressed me tonight. I love the fight in him. I was not high on him to start but if he keeps it up, I might just become a supporter.

Overall it was a great game to watch. I like Mo's leadership even though that foul was costly. He clearly wasn't going to let Conley get away with chippy bullshit on Rubio. I think Wiggins is going to be an absolute stud. Him and bazz on the wing could cause a lot of trouble with some intense hustle. I am at a loss to explain how shitty pek and brewer looked tonight.

Excellent summary of the game, volans...I agree with all your observations. this team is going to be pretty good if Bazz and Bennett battle it out for Most Improved Player in the league. Jim Peterson thinks they both have a chance.
