I actually think Young would have been an option, with Wiggins switching to Garnett, who is no longer much of a post-up threat. Young has a bit more muscle and weight to go along with pretty decent quickness. However, it's hard to fault Flip for sticking with Wiggins. He's grooming him to be our wing stopper, so it's baptism by fire.

11 rebounds (8 defensive). Thad also put an end to that Johnson vs Wiggins nightmare we had to watch (kudos to Joe) by cleanly ripping him on his dribble. Huge momentum shifter, imo. Led to more Nikola smash points.

They're clearly knuckleheads...tonight's game showed he's more of a 14-point guy!
LOL - classic. Rubio might not be a consistent 15/game, but he clearly looks more confident with his shot so far this year. Great game by him tonight. My only complaint is that there were actually a couple times he drove to the rim and should have taken the easy shot vs. attempting another pass.
Yep, Jim Pete mentioned it once when Ricky didn't take a layup but instead passed to Pek for a more difficult shot. And I noticed Flip called him over to talk to him about it. Ricky is only going to get better as he learns to be a little more selfish.
That play happen early in the game. I was scratching my head with that. It was a clear layup for rubio with no one around him then he suddenly pass it to pek who was behind him with kg trailing him. Pek got foul and thank god he made both fts/ Would love to see rubio dunk that one.
I love this team. And we're good. We just beat a good Nets team at home. I'm extremely pleased. Great team effort.
All five starters were terrific...you could make a case for any of the five being MVP tonight. The bench was off tonight, but I expect them to step up in Orlando.
I'm not sure I've ever seen such an extreme +/- disparity between a starting 5 and bench 5, but take a look at the box score tonight.

I thought about that too, q. But I couldn't really fault Wiggins for his defense, in fact I thought his footwork was extraordinary. Johnson was just better. Hopefully the vets are telling Wiggins that JJ would have been getting those 4th quarter points on anybody in the league tonight...he was that locked in.

shades of last year, but even worse. Shabazz was actually productive in his limited minutes, but Flip gave him the hook quickly. Volans thought his defense looked a little shaky, and world thought the Brewer/Shabazz pairing wasn't a good fit with Mo. I don't know...Flip must have seen something he didn't like.

I supported flip with going with wiggy on joe. Iso joe was on fire but I thought wiggy played him as good as you can. Joe was going to score no matter what, he was in the zone. Its a good learning experience for wiggins.

Yeah, I'm cool with Flip sticking with Wiggins as our wing stopper. Man, to be given that assignment as a 19-year old rookie is pretty incredible. You can see how he takes far less gambles and reaches than Brewer and that he's already stronger. He just needs time on task.
One thing I noticed coming out of one of the timeouts in the final minute was Sam Mitchell trying to fire Wiggins up. They really want him to assert himself more and play with confidence.
