Love's first game
Love's first game
Watched most of the Cav's game against Macabi last night. Love went 2/6 for 8pts and 11 rebs. Not a great showing offensively for him, and you could tell he is struggling to find his role with all the offensive weapons. It will be interesting to see how things shake out. I think Love will be re-thinking his move by the off season unless they win a title. Irving really seems to be taking a step forward already, which will push Love down to 3 or 4 on the offensive touches competing with Waiters.
What was a surprise was on the defensive end. It really pissed me off to see him sprinting back to tip away the pass at the basket, and squaring up taking a charge. It shows just how little of an effort he was making while on the wolves.
Love looks to have dropped another 5 or 10 pounds as well. Looked to be in fantastic shape.

Re: Love's first game
I had a love hate relationship with him Love on our team. Now i just hate him. He was always pouty, hope that character flaw puts Lebron's real leadership abilities to the test. Lebron is amazing but his savior routine in Cleveland is annoying. What is evident is that is completely Lebron's team now. No more deflecting the responsibility. All of his teammates have clearly identified character issues so it could go south as easily as it could be multiple championships. I hope this team collapses. I really want to see OKC come up strong this year and kick the door open.

Love's game translates to any style or system. When you can rebound, pass, and shoot, you can fit in anywhere. He most certainly won't average 25+ PPG like has done recently for the Wolves, but I expect him to put up something like 19-12-3 while also being able to play less minutes and better defense.

I am more curious to see how he accepts the lesser role, and I am not so sure he will get enough touches to score 19pts. He certainly has the skillset to fit in, but I think his ego is going to take a hit. Waiters and Irving has been at odds previously as well, so I think it might be little rockier than some expect.

I think Love will be great for the Cavs. But I wouldn't mind it at all if he broke his hand again.
Re: Love's first game
I should note that I too believe Love will do great this year. But I would love a Cleveland OKC finals matchup where OKC finds a way to win. Nothing would be better to me than seeing Love cry at the end of the year.

Could be, but Bosh made it work in Miami after clearly being THE man in Toronto and LeBron has become more and more of a facilitator. Love might get a lot more easy looks with Kyrie and LeBron putting so much pressure on the defense, so it kind of goes both ways. If Cleveland is winning, Love will be a happy camper.

I am not sure Love will be happy with just winning. I don't think he was super excited with his role on the Olympic team. It will be interesting. I think he ends up being the 4th highest score on the team behind LeBron/Irving/Waiters. Waiters is really the wildcard here. I think LeBron knows he is talented and want to make him succeed for the good of the team.

I can say with decent certainty that Love will be the second highest scorer on that Cavs team. I'm 300% (not possible, but saying it for effect) sure that he'll out-score Waiters. Come on now.

When the Cavs are up big it will be Waiters on the floor still scoring. He put up 14 shots in 25 minutes last night. He will get his.
