I think I'm in Love with Flip Saunders...

The reported deal now is

MIN: Young, Wiggins, Bennett

CLE: Love

PHI: Shved, Moute, Heat 1st

If you told me a month ago we'd do this deal, I would've asked you if you were under the influence.

Lol. Nice to be pleasantly surprised for once instead of the other way around! :)

Agreed. I'm very happy with the way Flip has handled these negotiations. I didn't think he could do it. I'm happy that he kept Bennett and got Young in return for players who weren't going to play anyway.

He's building the team like the Spurs, not the Heat. Given our highly drafted rookies play well, we have good depth at each position and we'll need 9 or 10 guys to give us solid minutes (especially with the eventual Pek and Martin injuries).

As for JJ, I think he'll be a problem too. But we shouldn't be in a hurry to trade him either. A good player to deal at the deadline is what Flip is probably thinking.

I think we can get 35 wins this year and be a playoff team the following year.

That's no given of course. We have seen time and again how draft picks tend to under-perform expectations more than over-perform (unless it's the Spurs doing the drafting of course).

I agree that this is a solid deal on paper. We'll see how Flip the coach and his staff does in terms of developing these guys. All of our prospects, including the ones Flip drafted, have some pretty big holes in their games.

I am completely stunned that Flip Saunders has manage to raise Love's trade value this high, and now to top it off he's going to fleece Philly in a side deal as part of a 3 team Love trade. You can see it in the comments everywhere else here, all NBA fans are surprised, ESPN top comments are all about how impressive it is that we are going to get THIS much for a guy who was walking in a year anyway. Saunders should be applauded I am f***ing sold I know that much, I made a thread on here late in this past season about how dark our future looked and he managed to completely flip (get it) everything in one off season.
