Re: The Love-Wiggins Deal Thread
I think Bennett's floor is a big man scorer off the bench which we just didn't have last year with the DC/Ronny lineups. Defense isn't as big of a need off the bench, but I could definitely see him giving us double digit points off the bench which would be nice to get from the frontcourt.

Re: The Love-Wiggins Deal Thread
How about getting both Wiggins and Klay. Is that even remotely possible? We get Wiggins on a rookie deal and we shed some contracts so that we could offer Klay the max. I'd think Golden State would reluctantly match it, but you never know. Or if Klay takes a one year deal and opts for unrestricted free agency, maybe we have a shot.
Klay has to know Flip has shown love his way and if Klay wanted to play in Minnesota like his pop did and with young talented squad. Probably very unlikely but it would be nice to have a lineup of Rubio, Klay, Wiggins, Dieng and maybe, Pek (though I think his contract would have to be shed somehow) or KG (after he drinks from the fountain of youth and wants to retire a TWolf). That would be a helluva good defensive lineup.

I want Tristan Thompson in any Wiggins deal because I think he's proven he is a very solid NBA PF, averaging 9.2 rebounds and 11 points per game last season. And he's still young enough to have more upside, especially as he finally gets the chance to play with a really good coach like Flip.
I agree Lip, I hope Tristan comes over in this deal.
TT could be a just a 1 year rental. Thats all I have to add.
Re: The Love-Wiggins Deal Thread
A minor tidbit, Wiggins, tt and bennet are all canadians. Getting 2 or all 3 should be interesting as I can see them playing for the canadian team down the line as team mates. This long wait in the love-wiggins deal is tedious. I hope it gets done or agreed upon sooner. I have my hopes high for wiggins being here. Hope Im not disappointed.

Okay...call me a complete moron, but I just think about Flip and the non-guaranteed contracts thing, and Dieng, as well as the Wolves attempting to not take a complete step back right now and something that could work for all teams involved...and it's tough to match salaries with players who are unsigned currently, but what if...
Wolves out: Love, Dieng, Martin, Shved
Wolves in: Wiggins, Monroe (S&T) and nonguaranteed contracts Murphy, and Lucas + 1st from Cavs
Cavs out: Wiggins, Bennett, Murphy, Lucas, 2-1sts
Cavs in: Love, Martin, Shved
Detroit out: Monroe (S&T)
Detroit in: Bennett, Dieng, 1st from Cavs
Pipe dream?

But it'd be at the wolves discretion though unless Thompson chooses the qualifying offer.
Re: The Love-Wiggins Deal Thread
How's this for a blockbuster:
WOLVES get Wiggins (after Cavs sign him), Bennett, Thompson and Waiters along with the 3 nonguaranteed contracts the Cavs just traded for. -- About $23.7 million.
CAVS get Love, Martin and Brewer -- About $27.2 million.
Salaries match. Cleveland clearly becomes a win-now team. MN gets lots of young pieces to build around and nets about $7 million in cap savings this year. Wolves use the additional $7 million to buy out Shved and Moute to clear the two roster spots needed to incorporate the players from Cleveland and sign GRIII.
Wolves starting five: Rubio, Waiters, Budinger, Thompson and Pekovic.
Wolves rotation bench guys: JJ, LaVine, Wiggins, Bennett, Dieng

Sounds more like a nightmare. Dieng isn't going anywhere.

Re: The Love-Wiggins Deal Thread
lip, I'd do that of course...but I get the feeling that the Cavs will be keeping Thompson and the Wolves are likely to get Bennett as a stretch 4 if it's a 2 team trade. Just a hunch.

Apparently you don't like Monroe...
