The Love-Wiggins Deal Thread
Re: The Love-Wiggins Deal Thread
If Love is demanding a trade, he wouldn't be the first. Actually, I think it's clear that (1) Love wants to be traded, 2) Love has a very short list of teams he's will to commit to long term as part of a trade, and (3) Love's agent is working hard to facilitate a trade to one of those teams -- Cleveland, Golden State, Chicago and maybe Boston.
If Love's agent is really telling teams that Cleveland is the only team he will commit to, then that that sure pulls the rug out from under Flip from a leverage standpoint. His agent might be getting frustrated with Flip, but who knows.

I didn't follow the situation because I didn't really care but it seems like this is feeling like the Magic Dwight Howard summer. Anyone else feel that way? It turned out ok (not great but not too bad either and we don't know what all the return yet either) for the Magic it seemed like they had less leverage than the Wolves have.

His agent just seems like he doesn't get it through this whole process. If Love doesn't want to be here, why would you narrow down the teams he's willing to go to down to 1 team? If Cleveland doesn't pony up the pieces because they know they are the only team in on the sweepstakes, then Flip is just gonna keep him. Then Love has to come back here because his bonehead agent ran the Bulls and Warriors out of the negotiations. If his client wants out, it doesn't make sense that he is limiting the options of where Love will go because it lessens the likelihood of a deal.

If we get Wiggins and TT and/or Thad Young and don't give up GR3 or Dieng, I'll be ecstatic. Bennett and/or firsts are just gravy.
The only thing possibly sweeter would be Philly coughing up a future first to us--and I'd happily add Shabbazz (and maybe Pek) with Waiters if that were a possibility.

It'd be interesting if Flip has Chicago as the third team involved. If we could get Waiters from Cleveland, sending Martin and Turiaf to Chicago for Gibson would be a good move for both teams. I know some think that doesn't make sense for the Bulls, but a Rose-Martin-Butler-Noah-Gasol lineup is balanced in every way you could think of, plus they'd have Hinrich-Snell-Dunleavy-Mirotic-Turiaf off the bench. Thibs usually brings along his rookies slowly, so this would put zero pressure on McDermott to contribute. And if he does, Dunleavy or Snell could battle for minutes.
For the Wolves, Rubio-Waiters-Wiggins-Gibson-Pekovic would be fun to watch and likely still competitive. LaVine-Brewer-Budinger-Dieng off the bench. Not a playoff team, but should compete nonetheless.
I'd prefer Thaddeus Young over Taj Gibson, but I'd be extremely happy with either.

I think Gibson is a better fit than Thad if we are keeping Pek. If we could end up with Wiggins and Gibson some how while keeping Ricky/Lavine/Pek I think that would be a great deal for us. I wonder what pieces go back to Chicago because it would need to be more than Martin to get Gibson. If we could have a starting 5 of Ricky/Martin/Wiggins/Gibson/Pek, I think that team could contend for a playoff spot while giving Wiggins and Lavine the necessary time and roles to develop.

Would you rather have multiple firsts or Bennett and Waiters

Waiters + Multiple 1sts > Waiters + 1st > Waiters + Bennett > Multiple 1sts > Bennett + 1st > Bennett
