Id rather keep Martin. If we trade for Wiggins, Wolves will need all the scoring it can get

I would kind of enjoy watching Ricky be forced to assert himself and be our second leading scorer all season.

Bennett's closer to Derrick Williams than he is Charles Barkley... as a pure talent.
Cam - I'd say we're pretty far apart on this one. :)

Lip what about comparing Bennett to another UNLV product Larry Johnson. Injuries really derailed his career but when healthy he was a very good player. I think any team would be happy to have Bennett turn into a healthy Larry Johnson. Thoughts?
Monster - I think you're spot on. I was trying to come up with a good comparison and I think you nailed.
Re: The Love-Wiggins Deal Thread
I'll add that I agree with Cool that the problem with Derrick has always been between the ears. It remains to be seen whether Bennett has the same problem.

Let's all keep in mind that Bennett sees himself as a small forward. We may call him a power forward, but that's not how the player views himself.

I like both of the comparisons, but agree that LJ might be the closest. If you look at their UNLV per 48 stats, they are very close. I don't think that Bennett will ever be the rebounder Charles was, even if he reaches his full potential, but he has better 3-point range than both of your comparisons.
Cam makes the point in a later post that Bennett thinks of himself as a SF, and I see that as a problem...makes me think he doesn't have an accurate self-assessment. Yes. his height may not be classic PF height, but his solid body frame and 7'1" wingspan makes him fully capable of handling PF's defensively, and I don't see him as being able to effectively guard NBA SF's. He was an incredibly effective inside scorer in college, but that was against smaller competition...I wonder if he doesn't feel as comfortable going inside against NBA competition. I noticed a tendency to hang out around the 3-point line during SL, and although he has that kind of range, he won't maximize his offensive potential unless he perfects his inside game, like he did in college.
The announcers last night were singing the praises of Sam Mitchell and especially his ability to make his teams play tougher. If Bennett comes our way, I look for Sam to toughen up Bennett and convince him that his bread and butter is working inside.

I'd like the trade better if we could hold onto GR3 and not have to take on Waiters. Love for Wiggins and either Bennett or TT and Cleveland's first and they can throw in Felix and/or Heywood if they want.
If they waited 30 days they would very likely add another piece going to CLE like Brewer or Martin which I like better, but waiting 30 days is stupid. What a dumb rule. Or they could just let the cap hold count in trades.
Re: The Love-Wiggins Deal Thread
If they were to agree on a deal where Wiggins is signed & then traded with a core of Wiggins/Thompson/Bennett/1st for Love/[insert wing here]. Which player(s) would you most want to include with Love?
I'm assuming Wiggins when signed will be making at least 4.6m. The trade machine has Parker listed with a salary of 4.9m so I'd imagine Wiggins will be slightly more than that so maybe 5.25m. With that figure Wiggins/TT/Bennett would total 15.95m mill which is enough for the Wolves to trade Love at 15.7m & Bud at 5m if CLE throws in Felix or Dellavedova. (Using Bud as an example with salary)
So who would it be?
Rubio/ JJ/ Lavine/ Shved
Martin/ Wiggins/ GR3
Brewer/ Bud/ Muhammad
TT/ Bennett/ LRMaM
Pek/ Dieng/ Turiaf

This is incredible news! I take back everything I said about you guys overvaluing Love...it turns out you were actually undervaluing him!
I have to hand it to Flip for waiting out the Cavs until he finally got what he wanted. He is a cold-blooded poker player.
Rubio
Wiggins
James
