Because Marion is not coming to the Wolves

Once again, you have no idea what Marion will and won't do. Dallas moved on from him because they said his market value was well above a minimum contract, which likely means they had talked with his agent. He spent 5 years in Dallas, so he is likely looking for more money. Most of the contenders will only have the minimum available, so if Minny offers more he may come. I don't know what we have available, but it will likely depend on the Love trade.

Reports are that Cleveland is interested in him, as is Houston. Marion will not even look at Minnesota.

An upgraded version of Corey Brewer.

Was this an attempt to take a shot at Young, Brewer or both?

There were reports that Dallas was interested in Mo Williams, and I'm sure Portland would have taken him back at the a minimum deal, but here he is in Minny. Nobody knows what marion is thinking.

I don't know if it was a shot, but lip actually came up with a pretty good comp, albeit at a different forward position. Brewer and Young both seem to be hardworking guys, good athletes, and good teammates. But both don't hold up when you look at their advanced stats., which are strikingly similar both offensively and defensively. Lip is correct...Young is slightly better in scoring efficiency and defense, and actually a better rebounder (Corey, of course, is a terrible rebounder).

Corey's contract looks like a bargain when you compare it to Young's.

lol. Not really a shot at either. Just another way to look at Young's value. Corey's value lies in his ability to generate turnovers and run out on the fast break. The stat you found confirms that Young can do what Corey does in the steals department. We know that Young is fast and can get out well on the break. But Young adds extra value over Brewer in that he is a slightly better three--point shooter than Corey and a moderately better rebounder. I actually think Young is a slightly better ball-handler than Corey as well. So he's Corey Plus. Not bad.

The comparison is true only in that Young and Brewer are good in transition and they can rack up steals. After that, the comparison ends.

But who am I kidding, Thad Young doesn't have the value that the great Corey Brewer has. I mean, Corey's contract looks like a bargain when you compare it to Young's...
